Overview

Reject non-essential cookies with a cautious, transparent and privacy-first approach.

Refuse to Share helps you save time and protect your privacy by automatically handling cookie consent banners while you browse. Instead of repeatedly searching for options such as “Reject”, “Only necessary” or “Manage preferences”, the extension looks for a safe way to refuse non-essential cookies. When a website requires preference management, Refuse to Share can open the settings panel, verify that optional categories are disabled and save the minimum available preferences. HOW IT WORKS • Detects cookie and consent banners on websites. • Recognises a wide range of Consent Management Platforms (CMPs). • Selects explicit rejection options when they are safely identifiable. • Handles multi-step banners that require opening privacy preferences. • Saves preferences only after verifying that measurable optional categories are disabled. • Confirms that the banner has actually disappeared before recording a successful rejection. • Continues checking briefly for banners that appear after the page has loaded. • Works across supported frames and open Shadow DOM interfaces. A PRUDENT APPROACH Refuse to Share is designed to be cautious. It does not click a button when its meaning is uncertain, contradictory or could result in accepting optional cookies. If the extension cannot identify a safe rejection path, it leaves the decision to you and displays a small temporary notice. It never treats a generic close button as a rejection unless the result can be determined safely. The extension also does not attempt to bypass pay-or-consent systems or choices that require a subscription. In these situations, the decision remains entirely with the user. SAVE TIME WHILE BROWSING Cookie banners interrupt everyday browsing and often require several steps before optional cookies can be refused. Refuse to Share performs these repetitive actions automatically whenever it can do so safely, allowing you to reach the content you wanted with fewer interruptions. PRIVACY FIRST Refuse to Share operates locally in your browser. • No account is required. • No general or complete browsing history is created. • By default, website names, domains and URLs are not stored. • The optional activity log is disabled by default. • If you enable the activity log, only the calendar date, website domain and outcome of supported consent actions are stored locally. • The activity log never stores full URLs, page titles, page content, cookie values or the time of your visit. • Banner text and page content are not saved. • No personal data, browsing activity or local report information is sent to external servers. • No analytics or advertising systems are included. • No remote code is downloaded or executed. • The extension is free and contains no purchases, subscriptions or donation systems. Aggregate counters are stored locally, such as the number of verified rejections and the number of cases left to the user. If the optional activity log is enabled, its entries are also stored exclusively in the browser. Daily counters and activity-log entries are retained for a maximum of 30 days. Overall aggregate totals and settings remain until the user deletes them, resets the local report or removes the extension. OPTIONAL LOCAL ACTIVITY LOG The local report includes an optional activity log that is disabled by default. When enabled, it can show the calendar date, website domain and outcome of supported consent actions, such as an automatic rejection or a choice that required your attention. Activity-log information remains exclusively in your browser and is never sent to Refuse to Share or to third parties. It does not include full URLs, page titles, page content, cookie values or the time of your visit. You can disable the activity log, delete its entries or reset the local report at any time. Entries are automatically deleted after a maximum of 30 days. OPTIONAL GLOBAL PRIVACY CONTROL The popup includes an optional Global Privacy Control setting. When enabled by the user, it sends the GPC signal to websites, requesting that personal data not be sold or shared. Automatic cookie rejection also works when GPC is disabled. CLEAR AND TRANSPARENT The popup lets you: • enable or disable automatic protection; • optionally enable Global Privacy Control; • see today’s verified rejections; • see how many choices required your attention; • open a local report covering today, 7 days, 30 days and all time; • optionally enable a local activity log showing the date, website domain and outcome of supported consent actions; • delete locally stored report information; • leave a review through the Chrome Web Store; • read how the extension works, its ethical principles and its privacy information. Refuse to Share manages consent interfaces; it is not an advertisement or tracker blocker. Its purpose is to express the most privacy-protective choice available in cookie banners without making uncertain decisions on your behalf. The goal is simple: fewer repetitive cookie choices, more time saved and greater control over your privacy.
