Reels Blocker for Facebook
Overview
Hides Reels, short-form video and video carousels from your Facebook feed. Local, private, no account needed.
Facebook keeps pushing Reels into your feed. This takes them back out. Reels Blocker hides Reels posts, Reels trays, suggested-video carousels and the Reels shortcuts in the sidebar the moment they load - so your feed is what your friends actually posted, instead of an endless wall of short video. WHAT IT HIDES • Reels posts and the Reels tray in the news feed • "Suggested videos" and video chaining carousels • Reels shortcuts in the left rail, the top bar and the post composer • Reels shelves on Watch, and the Reels player itself • Optional: the Stories row • Optional: bounce facebook.com/reel/... links back to your feed Each one is its own switch. Changes apply instantly - no page reload, no options page to dig through. The toolbar badge counts what was hidden on the page you are looking at. BUILT NOT TO BREAK YOUR FEED Facebook regenerates its class names constantly, so this does not chase them. It looks for what Facebook cannot rename without breaking itself - Reels URLs, ARIA roles, pagelet names - and hides the card around them. A safety guard refuses to hide anything large enough to be the feed, the navigation or the page itself, and it leaves video you are actually watching alone, theater mode and fullscreen included. If Facebook reshuffles its markup, the worst case is that a Reel slips through - never a blank page. Ordinary posts stay put. A friend writing "I finally posted some reels" is not a Reel, and the extension knows the difference. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION • No account, no sign-in, no setup • No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry • No network requests at all - there is no server to talk to • Nothing collected, nothing stored remotely, nothing sold • Runs on facebook.com and nowhere else The counter in the popup is a local tally in your own browser. Besides your six switches, that is everything it remembers. SMALL AND READABLE About 300 lines of JavaScript and one small stylesheet. No frameworks, no bundler, no remote code, no obfuscation. What you install is what you can read. AFTER INSTALLING Reload any Facebook tab you already had open - Chrome only runs a new extension on pages loaded after it was installed.
