Reelmote: Video Controls for Instagram

Play, pause, scrub, rewind, fast-forward and speed control for Instagram videos, reels and stories. Shortcuts, background playback.

Reelmote is a complete video controller for Instagram's website. Hover any video and a control bar appears with everything Instagram's own player leaves out: play and pause, a seek bar you can scrub, rewind and fast-forward, slower and faster, speed presets, reset, mute, a time readout, and a small badge that always shows the current speed. Works on the home feed (video and reel posts), the Reels feed, the reel viewer, post pages and post modals, stories, and direct messages. A COMPLETE CONTROLLER Play and pause with one click or one key. Scrub to any moment by clicking or dragging the seek bar, with a time tooltip and buffered ranges. Rewind and fast-forward by ten seconds, or by any number of seconds you set. Slow down or speed up in steps, jump to a preset, reset to 1x. Mute and unmute. Every control is on the bar and on a key. SPEED THAT STAYS Step from 0.07x to 16x in the increment you choose, toggle a preferred fast speed, reset to 1x and back. The last speed is remembered and applied to every video in every Instagram tab, including the next reel and your next session. Set different default speeds for the feed, Reels and posts if you like. KEEP PLAYING WHEN YOU SWITCH TABS Instagram pauses videos when you switch tabs or apps and restarts them when you come back. With "Keep playing when I switch tabs or apps" on, a playing video keeps playing in the background and a video you paused stays paused. Switch it off in the popup or in the settings. SHORTCUTS YOU CAN REMAP S slower, D faster, R reset, G preferred speed, J rewind, K play/pause, L fast-forward, M mute, C collapse the bar, V hide everything, and optionally the number keys 0 to 9 to jump to 0% to 90%. Every key can be changed, with modifiers, and you can add custom "set speed to N" keys. Shortcuts never fire while you type a comment, a message or a search. CONTROLS THAT GET OUT OF THE WAY The bar and the badge appear when you move the mouse and fade out two seconds later. Pin the bar open, collapse it to a small button, or hide everything with one key. Instagram's own buttons keep working: click to pause, mute and volume, tags, captions, comments, arrow keys on Reels, Escape on modals. PRIVATE BY DESIGN One permission (storage), no network requests, no analytics, no account access. Only your settings and last-used speed are stored, synced by Chrome if you are signed in.
