Read Reddit with the original text and its translation together, and preview translated drafts before you reply. reddit translate connects directly to an AI model service you configure with your own API key. BILINGUAL READING • Translate post titles, post bodies, comments, and supported feed title links while keeping the originals visible. • Handle new content as you scroll or expand comments. • Translate supported community highlight cards, descriptions, and rules. • Preserve links, code, and common formatting. Pause translation or hide translations when you want. WRITE WITH A PREVIEW • Translate drafts in supported post, comment, and reply editors. • Preview the result, then choose to replace, copy, or undo. Supports plain text, Markdown, and rich-text editors. • A draft edited while translation is pending is protected from being overwritten by the older result. • The extension does not automatically publish posts, comments, or messages. CHOOSE YOUR MODEL • Presets for 12 providers, including OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, and DeepSeek, plus compatible APIs and custom model IDs. • Separate models and target languages for reading and writing. • Optional prompts, context, budgets, and model-specific reasoning settings. Available capabilities depend on your provider and model. • 31 interface locale packs, including Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The language catalog is a selection aid, not a guarantee of translation quality for every language or model. LOCAL CONTROLS • Settings stay in the current browser and are not synced through Chrome Sync. • Reading translations can be cached locally for 7 or 30 days, up to 20 MB. Disable or clear the cache at any time. • API keys are stored locally by the extension and sent only to the model endpoint you configure and authorize. Translation requests do not pass through the extension operator's servers. BEFORE YOU START • Bring your own working model service and, where required, an API key. Providers may charge for API calls; this extension does not include API credits. • Enabling reading translation sends relevant page text and enabled context to your chosen model service. Drafts are sent when you click Translate. Review that provider's data policies first. • The extension includes advertising placements in its panel. When translation is enabled and an active ad is available, a dismissible floating ad labeled “Advertisements · reddit translate” appears on Reddit. Dismissal persists for the same tab across reloads. These ads come from the extension, not Reddit. Clicking ads is not required to translate. The extension does not target ads using reading content or drafts and does not send impression or click analytics events. • Requires Chrome 120 or later. Designed for modern www.reddit.com; old.reddit.com, private messages, and chat are not supported. Reddit site changes may affect compatibility. GET STARTED 1. Open the extension panel and choose Models. 2. Select a provider and model, enter your own API key, save, and authorize that API host. 3. Test the connection. This sends a model request and may incur a charge. 4. Choose your reading and writing languages, enable translation, and refresh existing Reddit tabs.
