Redakto fixes spelling, grammar, and phrasing in any text field on any website — using Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano model, entirely on your device. No account, no API key, no server, no data leaving your computer. HOW IT WORKS Start typing in any input, textarea, or rich-text editor. Once you've written enough, a small "Fix" button appears next to the field. Click it, and Redakto rewrites the text in place. Review the change with a floating bar — Accept, Keep original, or Try again — before it sticks. FIVE MODES - Fix: spelling, grammar, accents, capitalization and punctuation only. Never changes tone, meaning, or length. - Improve: rewrites for clarity and natural phrasing. - Formal / Casual: adjusts the register. - Concise: says the same thing in fewer words. 100% ON-DEVICE Every correction runs locally through Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano model (the Prompt API). Your text is never sent to any server — Redakto has no backend at all. This also means it keeps working with no internet connection, once the model is downloaded. WORKS EVERYWHERE Gmail, Slack, X, GitHub, your CMS, any web form — Redakto detects real input fields (never passwords, card numbers, or verification codes) and attaches without altering the page's own behavior. SUPPORTED LANGUAGES English, Spanish, Japanese, German and French — the languages officially supported by Chrome's Prompt API in multilingual mode. The interface itself is also available in all five. REQUIREMENTS Gemini Nano needs a one-time model download (~4 GB) and a couple of Chrome flags enabled before first use. Redakto's popup walks you through both with a direct link — no copy-pasting required. PRIVACY Redakto has no analytics, no telemetry, and no network requests of any kind. The only thing it stores is your own preferences (language, mode, minimum character count, per-site on/off), locally, via chrome.storage.local.
