Overview

Capture a tab, detect secrets on-device, and redact screenshots before sharing.

RedactShot helps you share screenshots without exposing secrets, identifiers, or private customer data. Capture the current tab or snip a region, let RedactShot detect sensitive text locally, then review and edit every redaction before you copy or download the final image. Use it when you need to share screenshots of dashboards, support tools, logs, PDFs, tickets, admin panels, invoices, tables, forms, or internal apps without leaking data. What RedactShot detects: • Credentials and secrets, including API keys, bearer tokens, OAuth tokens, private keys, passwords, seed phrases, and environment-style key/value secrets. • Personal and contact data, including names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, SSNs, passports, government IDs, dates of birth, and employee table values. • Financial data, including payment cards, CVV, expiry, bank accounts, routing numbers, IBAN, SWIFT/BIC, sort codes, salaries, and bank/institution fields in banking context. • PHI and medical-style values in health contexts, including MRNs, insurance IDs, Rx numbers, Medicare-style identifiers, blood type, and diagnosis codes/text. • Device, network, and log identifiers, including IP addresses, MAC addresses, UUIDs, hostnames, session IDs, raw-log tokens, and trace/request IDs. • Crypto and wallet data, including seed phrases and common BTC, ETH, and Solana-style address fields. Why install it: • Fast screenshot workflow: Capture Tab, Snip Region, review, copy, or download. • On-device detection: OCR and text detection run inside the extension. Screenshots are not uploaded to a server. • Human review: Automatic redactions are editable before export. • Safer sharing: Designed for developers, support teams, QA, security reviews, founders, operators, and anyone who screenshots sensitive tools. • Broad context coverage: Handles forms, dense tables, PDFs, logs, label/value cards, and wrapped OCR text. Privacy-first design: RedactShot is built around local processing. It does not require an account, does not send screenshots to a cloud service, does not use remote model calls, and does not include analytics or telemetry. Requested permissions: • activeTab: captures the current tab only after you take an action. • scripting: collects visible text boxes from the active page after you initiate a capture, improving redaction accuracy. • clipboardWrite: lets you copy the redacted screenshot to your clipboard. RedactShot is a safety tool, not a guarantee. Always review the redacted image before sharing.
