Each one sets the aspect, background, grade, caption style and a stack of animated elements timed against your recording's length — then leaves every layer editable. ■ EXPORT MP4 (H.264 + AAC), WebM (VP9 + Opus) and GIF. Frames are rendered one by one through WebCodecs, so the file matches the preview exactly. Choose format, quality and height before it starts, and whether Chrome should ask where to save. ■ ELEVEN LANGUAGES English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Turkish, Persian, and Kurdish in Sorani, Badini, Kurmanji and Hawrami. Pick one from the flag — it is stored per extension, not taken from your browser language. ■ PRIVACY There is no server. There is no account. There is no analytics, no tracking and no telemetry. Recordings and projects live in your browser's local storage and are never uploaded anywhere. Exported files go wherever you choose to save them. One exception, and it is opt-in: **automatic subtitles from your voice** use Chrome's built-in speech engine, which sends microphone audio to Google to transcribe it. That switch is off by default and says so where you turn it on. Leave it off and nothing leaves your machine. You can also import an .srt made elsewhere and use every other subtitle feature offline. ■ GOOD TO KNOW Chrome does not allow any extension to capture its own pages — the new tab page, Settings, the Web Store, other extensions' pages. RecordooStudio detects those and offers screen capture instead, which works everywhere. Speech-to-text is not bundled as an offline model: that would add tens of megabytes to the download. Import an .srt from Whisper or any transcription tool and the subtitle editor takes it from there. Requires Chrome 116 or newer.
