Overview
Check who signed an image or video and whether it changed. Reads Content Credentials on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
Reconize checks the Content Credentials inside images, video and audio, right in your browser. Content Credentials (the C2PA standard) are a signed record some cameras, apps and newsrooms attach to a file: who signed it, when, and what was done to it. How to use it - Right-click an image or video and choose Check with Reconize. - Or hover a large image and click the small R chip. - Or open the toolbar popup and drop in a file from your computer. What you see - Credentials valid: the signature checks out, the signer is on the C2PA trust list, and the file has not changed since signing. - Credentials valid, not on the trust list: the file is intact and the signature checks out, but the signer is not on the C2PA trust list. - Changed after signing: the content no longer matches what was signed. - No credentials found: the file carries none. Many sites strip them on upload, so this does not mean the file is fake. - Name confirmed: one of the creator's confirmed accounts shows that name. When the accounts are confirmed but none shows the name, you see which accounts are confirmed and the name as not confirmed. Private by design The file is read and checked on your device. Nothing is uploaded to Reconize, there is no account, and the extension collects no personal information. What a check does not tell you It does not say whether content is true, whether a person or software made it, or anything about the file before it was signed. Full details: reconize.me/how-reconize-checks.html Made by Reconize, a C2PA-conformant app for signing your work on the Mac. The extension is free and works on its own.
