See what you've already concluded, before you re-decide. Recall for Obsidian (formerly Obsidian Web) connects Chrome to your Obsidian* vault and surfaces what your notes already say about the pages and links in front of you: - Links you've selected a mark for are annotated right on the page. Ruled-out links are dimmed so you skip them without thinking. - Hover over an annotated link to see your mark and the note you left for your future self. - Arrive on a page you've judged before and a slim banner shows your past conclusion. - The toolbar badge shows how many of your notes mention the current page. - One click selects a mark ("ruled out" / "interested" / "done", or marks of your own design) for the current page, or for any link from the right-click menu without visiting it. The note is created for you. Everything is matched against a local index of your vault's URLs, built through the Obsidian Local REST API plugin. Your browsing never leaves your machine, and recall stays off until you explicitly enable it and grant the permission it needs. There's a capture side too: the customizable clipping templates this extension was originally known for (as Obsidian Web) still let you send whole pages, selections, or metadata into your notes. To get started: 1. Install this extension from the Chrome Web Store. 2. Install & enable the "Local REST API" plugin (version 5.0 or later) from the Community Plugins section in Obsidian. 3. Click on the "Recall for Obsidian" icon in your toolbar and follow the instructions. New in version 4.0.0: Obsidian Web is now Recall for Obsidian: same extension, same author, same extension ID, a new name for a new focus. - Link annotations: links you've selected a mark for are annotated directly on the page, and ruled-out links are dimmed. - Hover cards: rest on an annotated link to see your mark, when you made it, and the message you left for yourself. - Arrival banner: landing on a page you've judged before shows a slim, dismissible banner with your past conclusion, with "Open note" and "Add to note" a click away. - Marks: one click selects "ruled out" / "interested" / "done" (or marks of your own design) for the current page. Marks are fully editable in settings: name, glyph, color, and whether they dim links. The notes recording your marks are created in a vault folder of your choosing. - Judgment history: changing your mind no longer erases why. Your note's frontmatter always holds your current mark, and every change is also appended as a dated line under a "Recall log" section in the note's body, so "why did I rule this out last year?" has an answer. - Judge without visiting: right-click any link to select a mark or leave a note about it, without ever opening the page. - Fast, local matching: a local index of your vault's URLs replaces per-page vault requests. Matching normalizes URLs first (tracking parameters, fragments, trailing slashes), and unifies known aliases: a youtu.be short link matches your note about the youtube.com URL, arXiv abstract and PDF pages match each other, and a GitHub repository matches whether your note stores the web URL or the clone URL. - Privacy: recall stays off until you explicitly enable it, and the settings page explains honestly what the page-address permission is used for. - The options page is reorganized into four tabs: Connection, Recall, Capture, and Advanced. Your capture templates, presets, and connection settings carried over untouched. - Capture templates can now include the mark and note you've recorded for a page via {{recall.mark}} and {{recall.message}}. Recall features require Obsidian Local REST API version 5.0 or later.
