Overview

Save articles and read them anywhere — local-first, offline, no account.

When Pocket shut down in July 2025, millions of readers lost their saved libraries. ReadNest gives them a new home. Everything stays on your computer, everything works offline, and you can leave anytime with a full export. SAVE IN ONE GESTURE Click the ReadNest toolbar icon, press Alt+Shift+S, or right click any page and choose Save to ReadNest. The article gets cleaned up at save time, right inside your browser. READ OFFLINE, WITHOUT DISTRACTIONS Open saved articles in a calm reader view even with no internet connection. Your reading list stays searchable by title or site, filterable by tag, and split into unread and read. BRING YOUR POCKET LIBRARY Import your Pocket export (ril_export.html) or CSV file straight from the dashboard. Duplicates get skipped, and a clear summary shows exactly what came in. EXPORT ANYTIME Download your whole library in one click as a JSON archive or as a Pocket friendly HTML file. If an extension ever disappears again, your data does not have to. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS The library lives inside this browser on this device. There is no account, no server copy, and no analytics. Data only leaves your computer when you choose to export it. Uninstalling removes everything by design, so export first if you want to keep it. ONE HONEST NOTE ABOUT THE BANNER ReadNest may show one clearly labeled Sponsored banner, and it only ever appears inside our own dashboard, never on websites you visit. One checkbox turns it off completely and stops every sponsored content request. ONE PURPOSE, MINIMAL PERMISSIONS ReadNest saves articles to read later in a clean, offline reader. That is all it does. It never touches websites in the background. Saving works on the tab you are already looking at, and if you turn on full page capture we ask for that permission with a clear prompt you can decline or revoke. A few difficult pages (paywalls and very heavy scripts) resist extraction. We keep those as a simple link instead of failing silently.
