Overview

Automatically see if a page is saved, read or watched as you browse, no clicking needed. Works with Chrome’s built-in Reading List.

Already read that article? Already watched that YouTube video? ReadCue works with Chrome’s built-in Reading List to show whether the page you’re visiting is saved, unread or previously marked as read. It checks automatically as you browse, with no need to open your list and search. KNOW AT A GLANCE • Green: previously marked as read or watched. • Orange: saved, but unread or unwatched. • Gray: not in your Reading List. Optional, self-disappearing page notices show your status without clicking the extension icon. A countdown bar indicates when the notice will disappear. RECOGNIZE THE SAME CONTENT, EVEN WHEN THE LINK CHANGES A newsletter link, tracking parameter or YouTube timestamp can make the same content appear under different URLs. ReadCue ignores supported tracking parameters when matching pages. It also recognizes supported YouTube links by video ID, so opening a saved video at a different timestamp still matches your Reading List entry. Existing saved URLs are left unchanged. Newly added pages use a cleaned URL. Matching is based on supported URL rules, not page titles or the contents of an article. MANAGE YOUR READING LIST WITHOUT LEAVING THE PAGE • Add the current page to Chrome’s Reading List. • Mark articles as read or unread. • Mark YouTube videos as watched or unwatched. • Remove entries with a 10-second Undo window before deletion. • Expand Details to inspect how the current URL matched a saved entry. You stay in control: opening a page or playing a video never marks it finished automatically. YOUR EXISTING LIST, ACROSS YOUR COMPUTERS ReadCue uses Chrome’s built-in Reading List, not a separate bookmarking service. If Chrome synchronizes your Reading List across your computers, ReadCue can recognize those entries on each computer where the extension is installed. No additional ReadCue account is needed. PRIVATE BY DESIGN ReadCue processes open-tab URLs and Reading List information locally in your browser. It does not send this data to the developer, collect analytics or show ads. Website access is optional and enables in-page notices. Reading List checks still work without it, with native notifications available as a fallback depending on your browser and operating-system settings. A FEW THINGS TO KNOW • Requires desktop Chrome 120 or later. Mobile Chrome is not supported. • Cross-device availability depends on Chrome’s Reading List synchronization. • “Read” and “watched” reflect the status you set manually, not detected reading or playback. • Displayed read/watched dates use Chrome’s last-update timestamp, not a verified completion time. • Browser scheduling can delay a requested removal. Undo is available before deletion executes. MADE BY IMAN ReadCue is a hobby project I started to solve a personal need. Questions, feedback or feature suggestions? Contact made.by.iman.nl@gmail.com. I’d love to hear your ideas. While I can’t promise to implement every suggestion, I’ll gladly consider them. Thanks for your patience and kindness as I develop ReadCue in my spare time.
