ReadClear — Dyslexia Font, Bionic Reading, Reading Ruler & Text to Speech
Overview
Text to speech reader with dyslexia-friendly fonts, bionic reading, color tints and a reading ruler for ADHD. No account needed.
ReadClear makes any web page easier to read — and, when your eyes are done for the day, reads it out loud with text to speech. Turn on the overlay and the page is restyled in place: a dyslexia-friendly font, wider letter and word spacing, looser lines, and a soft color tint instead of harsh white. Add bold-first-half emphasis to guide your eyes from word to word, or switch on the ruler to dim everything except the line you are on. Press one shortcut and a natural voice reads the article — or just the part you selected. ★ TEXT TO SPEECH FOR THE WHOLE WEB Highlight any paragraph and press Alt+R, click the floating Read button, or use the right-click menu. Works on articles, blog posts, Substack, Medium, news sites, documentation, forums and web mail. No selection? ReadClear extracts the article and reads the whole page. Adjust speed from 0.5× to 3×, change pitch and voice, and pause, resume or stop from the popup or the keyboard. ★ DYSLEXIA-FRIENDLY FONTS, ON ANY SITE Replace the page font with OpenDyslexic, Andika or Atkinson Hyperlegible — three typefaces designed to reduce letter swaps and visual fatigue. Tune line spacing, letter spacing, word spacing, and pick a cream, light yellow, light blue or light pink tint as a color overlay for reading. Turn auto-run on for a site and your layout is applied the moment a page loads. Not just a font swap — a full reading layout. ★ BIONIC-STYLE READING Toggle bionic reading and the first part of every word becomes bold, guiding your eyes along the line and lifting comprehension on long-form content. The emphasis ratio is adjustable from 30% to 60% of each word. Useful for ADHD readers, late-night research, or any page that is simply too dense. Combine it with playback to skim and listen at the same time. ★ FOCUS AID — READING RULER & LINE DIMMING A reading ruler highlights the line under your cursor, and line-focus mode dims everything outside a 1, 3 or 5-line window. Helps anyone whose eyes lose their place on dense pages. ★ PRIVACY BY DESIGN No account required, no login wall. Your settings stay on your device, and sync across your devices only if you choose to sign in. ReadClear asks for access to a site only when you turn auto-run on for it; access to all sites is optional and requested only if you pick "Everywhere". We collect anonymous usage statistics — which features are used, never page addresses or page text — and you can switch them off in the options. ★ FREE VOICES, OPTIONAL PREMIUM VOICES System voices, the dyslexia fonts, the bold-first-half mode and the focus modes are free and always will be. Sign in with Google to use natural premium voices during the open beta (30,000 characters per month); only the text you choose to hear is sent for synthesis. No yearly subscription, no forced sign-up, and the free tier is not a trial.
