Read Faster is a modern web application that leverages RSVP (Rapid Serial Visual Presentation) technology to transform how people consume written content. Traditional reading requires your eyes to move across lines of text, which creates inefficiencies and limits reading speed. Read Faster eliminates this bottleneck by presenting words one at a time at a fixed focal point, allowing your eyes to remain stationary while your brain processes information at accelerated speeds. Read Faster offers a browser extension for Chrome that provides quick access to the speed reading experience. The extension can: - Automatically capture the current page URL - Submit URLs or text directly to the Read Faster service - Open the speed reading interface in a new tab - Support both dark and light themes with saved preferences The application solves the fundamental problem of slow reading caused by eye movement inefficiency. When reading normally, your eyes must perform saccadic movements (rapid eye jumps) between words and lines, which takes time and can cause fatigue. RSVP technology eliminates these movements entirely, presenting each word sequentially at the optimal recognition point, allowing you to read at speeds of 300-800 words per minute or more, compared to the average reading speed of 200-250 words per minute. Read Faster can extract readable content from any web URL. Simply paste a URL, and the application uses intelligent content extraction algorithms to identify and extract the main article text, removing navigation elements, advertisements, and other non-content elements. The extracted content is then processed and prepared for speed reading. In addition to URL scraping, users can paste text directly into the application. This feature supports reading any text content, including documents, notes, research papers, or any written material. Users can optionally provide a title for their text content. Every article or text submitted to Read Faster receives a unique short code. This allows users to easily share articles with others by sharing a simple URL like `https://read-faster.com/read/abc123`.
