Read Aloud TTS with Kokoro converts any web page into natural-sounding speech using a locally running Kokoro-FastAPI server. No cloud services, no data collection — everything runs on your machine. FEATURES 📖 One-click page reading Automatically detects the main content on any article page (news, blogs, Wikipedia, documentation, etc.) using Mozilla's Readability engine — no manual selection needed. 🔍 Read selected text Highlight any text on a page and a floating "Read aloud" button appears. Click it to hear just that selection. 🎯 Sentence-level navigation Click any highlighted sentence to jump playback to that position. Perfect for skipping ahead or re-listening to a passage. ✨ Real-time highlighting The active sentence lights up in yellow as it's spoken. Auto-scroll keeps the current sentence centered on screen. 🎛️ Full playback controls A floating control bar provides play/pause, stop, previous/next sentence, voice selector, and playback speed (0.5–2.0×). 🌍 Multi-voice support All Kokoro voices are supported: English (af_heart, af_bella, af_sarah, af_nicole, am_adam, am_michael), UK English (bf_emma, bm_george), Hungarian (hf_alpha, hf_beta, hm_omega, hm_psi), and more. ⚡ Background prefetch The next 3 sentences are synthesized in the background while the current one plays — no gaps between sentences. 🔒 100% private No data collection. No analytics. No external servers. All speech synthesis happens on your local machine via the Kokoro-FastAPI API. Settings are stored locally in Chrome. REQUIREMENTS A running Kokoro-FastAPI server at http://localhost:8880.
