Read Along turns any web page into an audiobook without leaving the page. Press Alt+Shift+P (Option+Shift+P on a Mac) and it reads from where you are. The word being spoken is highlighted as you go, and the page scrolls just enough to keep your place, so you can listen and follow along at the same time. FEATURES • Word-by-word highlighting while the page is read aloud. • Gentle auto-scroll with a visible "Scroll along" switch. It stays out of your way until the spoken line nears the edge of the window. • Start anywhere: Option-click a paragraph, select a passage and choose "Read selection", or right-click and pick "Read from here". • Any language your computer has a voice for. Auto picks a voice that matches the page. • Works with documentation sites and pages that scroll inside an inner pane. • Adjustable speed and voice. Light and dark themes. • Keyboard shortcuts: play/pause, stop, next sentence, previous sentence. • No account, no analytics, and no network requests. PRIVACY Everything runs on your device using the voices your operating system already provides. Page text is processed in memory and is never sent anywhere. Speed, voice, and scroll preferences are saved with the browser's own sync storage, which may follow your signed-in browser profile. See the privacy policy for details. GOOD TO KNOW • A system voice must be installed for the language you want to hear. • Browser pages (chrome://…), the built-in PDF viewer, and text drawn into a canvas (such as Google Docs) cannot be read. • To read local HTML files, enable "Allow access to file URLs" on the extension's Details page.
