Overview

Block unwanted sites and close their tabs. Temporary blocks, statistics, silent mode, and backup.

Ramcosan Site Ban — Block the sites you don’t want and protect your focus. While working, studying, or focusing on your daily tasks, you may want to stay away from certain websites. Ramcosan Site Ban lets you add these sites to your block list and set the blocking duration according to your needs. You can block a site for 1 hour, 1 day, or until you remove the block yourself. When a blocked address is visited, the extension blocks the page load using network rules and closes the related tab. KEY FEATURES • Permanent and temporary site blocking Choose the duration that suits you: 1 hour, 1 day, or permanent. Permanent blocks stay on the list until you remove them. • Automatic tab closing Tabs belonging to blocked sites are closed automatically. When you add a new block, open tabs that match that site are also checked. • Subdomain support When you block a domain, its subdomains are also covered. For example, blocking example.com also blocks addresses like news.example.com. Blocking only a subdomain does not block the entire main domain. • Blocked list management View the sites you have blocked in a single panel. When you want to visit a site again, remove the block using the “Remove” button in the list. • Search and sorting Search your blocked list by domain name. Sort sites alphabetically, by number of blocks, or with the most recently added ones first. • Blocking statistics View the number of blocked sites and counters related to tabs closed due to blocking. You can reset the counters while keeping your blocked list intact. • Silent mode Turn off operation notifications and use the extension quietly. Silent mode does not stop site blocking or tab closing functions. • Backup and restore Export your blocked list, counters, and blocking duration information as a JSON file. Later, use this file to restore your list. Before loading a backup, the file structure is checked. Invalid backups are rejected. When loading a valid backup, confirmation is requested that the current list will be replaced. • Right-click menu Right-click on the page you are visiting to block the site permanently or temporarily. In appropriate cases, remove the block from the same menu. • Keyboard shortcut Quickly add the site you are visiting to your blocked list with the Alt+Shift+B shortcut. • Turkish and English interface Select your preferred language from the extension panel. HOW TO USE? Open the website you want to block. Click the Ramcosan Site Ban icon in the browser toolbar. Choose one of the options: Permanent, 1 hour, or 1 day. Press the “Block This Site” button. To remove a block, open the extension panel, find the relevant site in the list, and press the “Remove” button. EXAMPLE USES • Block a distracting site for 1 hour during a work session. • Block a site you don’t want to visit during the day for 1 day. • Keep sites you always want to stay away from on your permanent blocked list. • Search a long blocked list to quickly reach the entry you want to change. • Back up your list before changing your browser setup. PRIVACY AND DATA Ramcosan Site Ban does not require you to create an account. Blocked domain names, blocking counters, duration information, and extension settings are stored in your browser’s local extension storage. The extension does not send these records to external servers and does not use any analytics service. Visited addresses are processed only to match them against the domains on the blocked list. The extension does not create a separate browsing history of all the sites you visit. The backup process is a file download initiated by you. The JSON file you create contains your blocked list and related records; where you store the file or with whom you share it is under your control. WHY ARE PERMISSIONS REQUIRED? • Website access and network blocking Used to block page and frame navigations to the domains you select. • Tabs and navigation information Used to determine the domain of the current site, detect navigations to blocked addresses, and close the related tabs. • Local storage Used to store your blocked list, counters, duration information, and settings. • Right-click menu Used to add quick block and unblock options to the page menu. • Notifications Used to provide information about blocking and other operations. You can turn notifications off from the extension’s silent mode setting. • Alarms Used to track the duration of temporary blocks and to retry failed record or network rule updates. USAGE NOTES • Blocking is at the domain level. It is not designed to block only a specific page or path of the same site. • Network rules are applied to page and frame navigations. The extension is not a general-purpose content blocker that filters every image, script, or background data request from a blocked domain. • The browser’s internal settings and extension pages are not blocked. Site selection applies to HTTP and HTTPS addresses. • Scheduled operations may be delayed when the computer is in sleep mode or the browser is not running. Temporary blocks are checked when the browser runs again. • Restoring from a backup replaces the current blocked list with the list in the selected backup. Lists are not automatically merged. • Backup files can be up to 2 MB, and the blocked list can contain a maximum of 5,000 domain names. • The extension is designed for personal site blocking and focus purposes. Users can remove blocks or disable the extension; it does not provide password-protected parental controls or enterprise access control. With Ramcosan Site Ban, select the sites you want to block, set the duration, and manage your list from a single panel.
