Created by a remote caregiver, RAFTECH.ORG Reader helps make web pages easier to read, hear, and understand through natural voices, word highlighting, and customizable accessibility features. RAFTECH.ORG Reader helps you listen to selected text on webpages without changing the page layout. Select text on a normal webpage, then use the popup, context menu, keyboard shortcut, or floating reader controls to hear it read aloud. The extension is built for clear selected-text reading, simple controls, and page-safe highlighting that does not rewrite or reformat the webpage. Core features: -Reads selected webpage text aloud. -Uses browser voices by default. -Supports Chrome TTS voices when available. -Provides optional online voices through Microsoft Azure Speech, Google Cloud Text-to-Speech, or --Amazon Polly using your own provider credentials. -Offers page-safe highlight styles: soft glow, underline, and sentence ruler. Includes optional auto-scroll to follow highlighted text. -Provides movable floating controls, mini mode, larger controls, and simple mode. -Supports keyboard shortcuts for read and stop. -Keeps browser voice reading local to voices available in your browser environment. Privacy-conscious design: +Browser voices are the default. +Online voices are optional. +Selected text is sent to an online provider only when cloud voice mode is selected. +Provider API keys and AWS secret values are stored locally in Chrome extension storage on this browser. +Cloud provider host access is requested only when you use optional online voice features. Notes: Browser voice availability depends on Chrome/Edge/Chromium, the operating system, and installed voices. Word timing and highlight sync vary by voice and provider. Azure Speech playback does not provide synced word highlighting in this version.
