Quite for YouTube is a YouTube ad blocker that does one job. It skips video ads as they appear, fast-forwards the ones that cannot be skipped, and hides the ad panels in the feed, sidebar, search results and Shorts. It does nothing else. - Video ads: Skip is clicked as soon as it appears, and unskippable ads are fast-forwarded. - Feed, sidebar, search and Shorts ad panels are hidden before they paint, so the page does not jump as they disappear. - Banner overlays on top of the video are dismissed. - Ad and tracking requests are blocked before they leave the browser. This covers YouTube's ad-serving and ad-measurement endpoints. It does not stop the video ad itself — that is still skipped, as above. - Merch shelves under videos can be hidden too (off by default). Every option can be switched off individually, and the whole extension has a single on/off switch. It runs only on youtube.com. Blocking uses Chrome's declarative request rules, which can only block: they give the extension no ability to read or alter any request, and no access to any site other than youtube.com. It has no account, no server and no analytics, and nothing is sent to us. It stores the checkboxes you have ticked and a running count of what it has skipped or hidden. Settings use Chrome's own extension-settings sync, so with Chrome sync switched on they travel with your Chrome profile, as any extension's settings do. YouTube changes its player regularly. When that happens some skipping can stop working until the extension is updated — the extension is built to fail towards "an ad gets through" rather than towards a broken video.
