Quietwall blocks unwanted advertising and tracking traffic while keeping breakage recovery and privacy controls close at hand. # Broad blocking without remote code - Blocks common ad, bidding, analytics, attribution, fingerprinting, malvertising, redirect, and device-telemetry endpoints. Hides many leftover ad spaces with packaged, category-aware cosmetic filters, including common canonical ad containers and stable site-specific containers. - Evaluates packaged popup and popunder patterns, source scopes, and exceptions before opening a new window or committing supported script-driven cross-origin navigation. - Preserves ordinary visible links and narrowly recognized sign-in and payment flows instead of treating every external destination as an ad. Removes several common video-ad descriptors before supported players read them, with playback safeguards when an ad still appears. - Ships packaged network rules and compatibility exceptions intended to keep sites, media, and sign-ins working. - Uses no remotely hosted code or remotely downloaded filter list. Privacy defenses you can control - Fingerprinting resistance perturbs canvas, WebGL, and audio readback per site and session and suppresses exposed WebRTC addresses. - Canvas readback protection works from a private mirror so it does not write perturbed pixels into the page's visible canvas. - Strict fingerprinting is optional because blanking canvas and audio readback can break image editors, signature pads, charts, and QR scanners. - Device and vendor telemetry blocking is enabled by default. - Social-widget, cookie-notice, strict-fingerprinting, and HTTPS-upgrade layers are optional so you can choose the compatibility tradeoff. Rescue broken sites - Standard mode uses your global protections. - Strict mode blocks additional third-party scripts and frames while preserving media, data requests, common CDNs, and sign-in services. - Trusted mode lets a chosen site load normally after reload. A ten-minute pause reloads the current site and restores its prior protection automatically. - Personal block and allow domains compile into Chrome's local rules engine. Useful tools in the popup - Shield shows the current site's mode, transparent address signals, and recent network matches. - Rescue provides the ten-minute pause, a local checkup, and a copyable domain-level site report. - Tools cleans common tracking parameters, unwraps recognized redirect wrappers, highlights reject-style consent controls without clicking them, quiets media and motion, removes common page clutter, and lets you pick an element to hide. - Recognized HTTPS short links can be expanded on request. That action contacts the entered shortener and follows its redirects; ordinary parameter cleaning remains local, and unencrypted HTTP short-link resolution is refused. Private by design - No account - No developer analytics or telemetry - No browsing-history upload to Quietwall - No Quietwall server - No remote code or remote filter updates - No acceptable-ads program - Settings and local summaries stay in Chrome extension storage on your device Quietwall reduces many common ads, popups, redirects, and tracking techniques, but no blocker can guarantee every ad, sponsored post, first-party promotion, newly created host, or server-driven navigation will be stopped. A redirect returned by a server after the user intentionally follows a link may not be safely distinguishable from a legitimate destination. Ads inserted into the same server-side video stream cannot be universally removed without risking the video itself.
