Overview

QuickTruth — shows Cofacts and Taiwan FactCheck Center results next to Facebook posts, plus on-device AI analysis.

QuickTruth adds small fact-check buttons next to Facebook posts so you can check a claim before you share it. THREE TOOLS, ONE CLICK EACH • Check for known rumors — looks up the post in Cofacts and the Taiwan FactCheck Center and shows an existing fact-check when one matches (matches are filtered for relevance, so unrelated reports are not shown). • AI quick verify — a short three-point check (core claim, fact check, verdict) written by Chrome's built-in AI. • AI semantic analysis — a fact-check category plus an emotional-manipulation profile across seven dimensions. You can copy the result card as an image to share. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • The two AI tools run on your own computer using Chrome's built-in on-device AI (Gemini Nano). Post text is not sent to any server. • The rumor lookup only runs when you click the button, and sends the post text to Cofacts and the Taiwan FactCheck Center — nothing else, and no account information. • No sign-in, no ads, no analytics. The developer runs no servers. REQUIREMENTS • Chrome 138 or later with Chrome's built-in AI (Prompt API / Gemini Nano) available. The AI tools need a supported computer; the first use may download the model. The rumor lookup works without it. • The interface follows your Chrome language: Traditional Chinese or English. TIPS • Expand the full post ("See more") before checking for better results. • AI output can be wrong, especially on small on-device models. Treat it as a hint, not a ruling, and follow the links to the original fact-checks. SOURCES Fact-checks come from Cofacts (https://cofacts.tw, CC BY-SA 4.0) and the Taiwan FactCheck Center (https://tfc-taiwan.org.tw). Sources are credited in the extension. QuickTruth is an independent extension and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Facebook, Meta, Cofacts, the Taiwan FactCheck Center or Google.
