Overview
Convert images to modern formats like WebP, AVIF, and HEIC — entirely in your browser. No uploads, no servers.
QuickConvert lets you convert images directly in your browser — no uploads, no accounts, no waiting. Just right-click an image or drop files onto the popup and get a converted file in seconds. Everything happens on your device. Your images never leave your browser. --- ### How to use it There are two ways to convert an image: **From any webpage** — right-click an image and choose "Convert with QuickConvert". The converted file downloads automatically. **From your files** — click the toolbar icon, drop images onto the popup (or browse to select them), choose your output settings, and download. Batch mode lets you convert several images at once and save them together as a ZIP archive. --- ### What you can do - Convert between common web and print image formats - Remove image backgrounds — instantly with a fast on-device method, or with an AI model for complex photos (Lifetime tier) - Edit images before converting: crop, resize, and preview the before/after side by side - Adjust output quality with a slider - Keep the converter open in a side panel while you browse - Switch between dark and light themes --- ### Your privacy All image processing runs locally using your browser's built-in capabilities and bundled WebAssembly codecs. The extension makes only two disclosed network requests: 1. A one-time download of an AI model file (only if you use background removal on a complex photo). The file is cached locally so it only downloads once. 2. A license check when you activate a Lifetime purchase — this sends only the email address you enter in Settings. The Free tier makes no network requests at all. No image data, usage analytics, or personal information is ever collected or transmitted. --- ### Free and Lifetime tiers QuickConvert is free to install. The free tier covers unlimited single-image conversions with no time limit. The Lifetime tier is an optional one-time purchase that adds: - Support for HEIC/HEIF photos (common on iPhone) - AI-powered background removal for complex photos - PDF output - Larger batch sizes - ZIP download for batch results --- ### Permissions explained | Permission | Why it's needed | |---|---| | activeTab | Access the image you click or drop in the current tab | | contextMenus | Add the right-click option on images | | downloads | Save converted files to your Downloads folder | | scripting | Extract image data from the page when you choose to convert | | storage | Remember your format, quality, and theme preferences | | sidePanel | Enable the optional pinned side-panel | | offscreen | Run image processing in a background document (required by Chrome's Manifest V3) | | Access to all URLs | Fetch image data from whichever page you convert from — only when you explicitly trigger a conversion | --- ### Requirements - Chrome 116 or later - macOS, Windows, Linux, or ChromeOS
