QuickCode Editor
Overview
Fast offline text and code editor for ChromeOS with JavaScript execution and HTML preview.
Short description A local code editor for ChromeOS with project navigation, document tabs, JavaScript Runner, and HTML Preview. Full Chrome Web Store description QuickCode Editor is a lightweight coding environment for editing code and text files directly on ChromeOS. It combines a code editor, project tree, document tabs, JavaScript execution, and HTML preview in a single workspace. QuickCode Editor is designed for quick edits, small local projects, code testing, and working with files without launching a full desktop IDE. Unified workspace QuickCode Editor maintains a single active editor instance. Newly opened files are added as internal document tabs instead of creating duplicate extension windows. Files can be opened through the file picker, the ChromeOS Open with QuickCode Editor command, drag and drop from the system file manager, or directly from the project tree. Local project workflow Open a local folder and navigate its contents using the integrated project tree. QuickCode Editor supports: folder and file navigation; opening project files in internal tabs; dragging files from the project tree into the editor workspace; saving changes back to the original files; applying project settings from .editorconfig. Common programming languages and file formats use syntax highlighting and color-coded file icons for faster navigation. Code and text editing QuickCode Editor supports common web development languages, configuration files, Markdown, logs, structured data, and plain text. The editor provides a focused multi-document workspace with search and replace, encoding and line-ending controls, indentation settings, line wrapping, font customization, and synchronized light and dark themes. Large log files can be opened in a dedicated lightweight viewing mode designed to reduce resource usage and maintain interface responsiveness. JavaScript Runner JavaScript files and code fragments can be executed in an isolated environment, with output displayed in the integrated console. For security, the execution environment does not provide access to: the DOM; network requests; Chrome APIs; Node.js APIs; nested Web Workers. Execution time is limited to prevent unresponsive scripts from running indefinitely. HTML Preview HTML documents can be rendered in the integrated side panel. The preview can use CSS and JavaScript files that are already open in the current QuickCode Editor workspace. Network access, pop-up windows, form submissions, Chrome APIs, and nested workers are restricted inside the preview environment. Local-first operation File editing, project navigation, document sessions, JavaScript execution, and HTML preview run locally on the device. The contents of user documents are not uploaded to external servers. An internet connection is required only for purchasing, activating, or validating a PRO license through Freemius. Free and PRO The Free version includes: up to three documents open at the same time; 30 trial runs shared between JavaScript Runner and HTML Preview. PRO removes the limits on open documents and access to JavaScript Runner and HTML Preview. QuickCode Editor is built for ChromeOS users who need a fast, compact, and local workspace for code and text files.
