Quality for YouTube Shorts

Adds a video quality selector to the YouTube Shorts player and remembers your choice across shorts.

Quality for YouTube Shorts adds the quality menu that YouTube leaves out of the Shorts player. YouTube often starts Shorts at 360p, even when the video was uploaded in 1080p or higher, and the Shorts player gives you no way to change it. This extension puts a gear button in the Shorts control bar, next to the captions button. Click it and choose the quality you want. What it does • Plays every Short in the highest quality it offers, as soon as you install it. • Lets you pick a fixed level instead, such as 1080p or 720p. If a Short doesn't offer that level, it plays the closest one below it. • Includes Auto, which hands the choice back to YouTube. • Remembers your choice and applies it to every Short you scroll to. • Shows the quality that's playing in a small badge on the gear. • Works from the keyboard. Enter or Space opens the menu, the arrow keys move through it, and Escape closes it. How to use it 1. Open any Short on youtube.com. 2. Hover over the video to show the player controls. 3. Click the gear and choose a quality. Privacy The extension runs only on youtube.com. It collects no data and sends nothing anywhere. Your quality choice is saved in your browser and never leaves it. Higher qualities use more data. If your connection struggles, pick a lower level or Auto. Quality for YouTube Shorts is an independent extension.
