Move the web. Instantly. You are reading something on your computer and you want it on your phone. QRcade turns the tab you have open into a QR code. Point your phone camera at it and the same page opens in your hand. No retyping a long address, no emailing yourself a link, no sign-in. HOW IT WORKS 1. Click the QRcade icon in your toolbar, or press Alt+Q. 2. A QR code for the current page appears. 3. Point your phone camera at it. TWO MODES This tab encodes the page you are on. That is the default and needs no input. Custom encodes anything you type: a link, a wifi join string, a meeting point, a phone number, a note to yourself. The code redraws as you type. Custom mode keeps working on pages that cannot be encoded themselves, so a browser settings tab is not a dead end. EVERY CODE IS BRANDED QRcade sets its name on a plate in the middle of every code, large enough to read at a glance. That is built in, not a setting to manage. It is safe rather than decorative: the plate is sized as a share of the grid, covering about an eighth of it, and error correction rises to level H, which reconstructs about 30 percent of a damaged code. Every combination was checked by decoding the result, not assumed. If a payload is too long to fit at level H in a grid a camera can still resolve, the plate is left off rather than the code being made unreadable. The codes themselves are drawn rather than dumped out. Runs of squares become capsules and lone squares become dots, the three corner markers are rounded square eyes, and the ink is a dark diagonal gradient. It looks like a designed object instead of a generated one, and it scans exactly like a plain code. WHAT ELSE YOU GET Copy puts the text on your clipboard, for when a QR code is not what you need. Save PNG exports the code at four times its on-screen size, sharp enough for a slide, a handout or a printed poster. The file is named after the site, so a folder of codes stays readable. The error correction level is chosen for you, favouring the sturdiest code that still has squares big enough for a phone camera to resolve. The readout at the bottom always says what you actually got, for example 45 x 45 and ECC H. When a page cannot travel, because it is a browser settings page, a local file or a view-source tab, QRcade explains why in a sentence instead of handing you a code that leads nowhere on another device. HOW IT TREATS YOUR DATA The QR code is computed inside the popup, on your machine. QRcade makes no network requests, stores nothing, keeps no history, and has no server to send anything to. It asks for two permissions and no more: activeTab reads the address of the tab you clicked from. Chrome grants this because of that click and withdraws it afterwards, which is why QRcade needs no access to any website. clipboardWrite backs the Copy button. There is no host permission, no storage permission, and no background service worker. BUILT FOR SPEED Manifest V3, plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, no third-party libraries and no bundled frameworks. The QR encoder is part of the extension, which is what lets the whole thing work with the network switched off. Works on any http or https page.
