Overview

Right-click an image to read its QR code and open the decoded URL in a new tab.

QR Reader lets you read a QR code from any image on a web page with a right-click — no screenshots, no phone, no separate app. HOW IT WORKS 1. Right-click a QR code image on the page. 2. Choose "Read QR code" from the context menu. 3. The toolbar popup opens and shows the decoded URL. Click Open to visit it. FEATURES • Read QR codes from images directly on the page • The decoded URL is always shown in the popup before you open it — you see where you're going • Non-web content (e.g. a Wi-Fi or plain-text QR) is shown as text, with no Open button • Choose how the Open button works: new tab (default), background tab, or current tab SECURITY & PRIVACY • Least privilege: no <all_urls> / host permissions. activeTab grants access to the target tab only on your right-click. • Decoding happens entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded. • Only http:// and https:// results are openable; other schemes (javascript:, data:, file:, ...) are shown as text but never opened. • Showing the URL before opening also helps against "quishing" (QR phishing). QR Reader does not collect or transmit any data. Your setting and the latest read result are stored locally in your browser only. Requires Chrome 127 or later.
