QR for this tab — offline QR code generator
Overview
Make a QR code of the page you are on, or of any text, Wi-Fi network or contact. Works offline. Nothing is ever sent anywhere.
Turn the page you are looking at into a QR code, in one click. Point a phone at your screen and it opens the same page — no typing a long URL, no messaging it to yourself, no third-party shortener. WHAT IT MAKES • The current tab's address, filled in automatically • Any text you type or paste • A Wi-Fi network, so guests can join by scanning instead of typing a password • A contact card (vCard) that phones add straight to their address book Export as PNG, as SVG for printing at any size, or copy the image straight to the clipboard to paste into a document or a chat. TRULY OFFLINE This extension makes no network request at all. Not one. The QR code is computed on your machine, and nothing about what you encode leaves it. Turn off your connection and it still works. That matters more than it sounds. Most QR generators — websites and extensions alike — send your content to a server, and many encode a redirect through their own domain instead of your actual link. Those codes can be switched off, rate limited, or turned into a subscription later, long after you printed them. The codes made here are static: the content lives in the black and white squares, so they never expire and nobody counts your scans. ONE PERMISSION, AND ONLY ON CLICK The extension asks for "activeTab" and nothing else. That grants access to the single tab you are looking at, and only at the moment you click the icon. It cannot read your browsing history, your other tabs, or anything you do when the popup is closed. CORRECT WHERE OTHERS ARE NOT Accented characters, emoji and non-Latin scripts are encoded as proper UTF-8. A great many generators quietly truncate each character to a single byte, which turns "œ" into "S" — the code scans perfectly and shows the wrong text, with nothing to warn you. Wi-Fi passwords containing ; , : " or \ are escaped as the format requires, so a code made from a real password actually connects. No account, no sign-up, no tracking, no ads. Made by the people behind outily.net, a set of browser tools that never upload your files.
