Make a QR code for the page you are on, without typing or pasting anything. Open the extension and the code for your current tab is already drawn. Adjust it if you want to, then download it or copy it straight to the clipboard. Nothing is uploaded to make a code: the generator runs inside your browser, so the page you are on stays between you and the extension. WHAT IT DOES Reads the tab you are on. The URL is filled in the moment the popup opens. There is no paste step and no waiting on a server. Five kinds of code. Besides a web address you can make codes for plain text, an email address, a phone number, or Wi-Fi network details so a guest can join without being read a password. Six styles. Classic black, Signature blue, Deep navy, Tide, Halo and Ink. Every style is checked against a real decoder before it ships, so a code that looks different still scans. Three ways to take it with you. Download a 1000 pixel PNG for screens and documents, download an SVG when it is going to print or be resized, or copy the image to the clipboard and paste it directly into a message, a slide or a design tool. Right-click anything. The context menu makes a code for the current page, for a link you are hovering, for an image, or for text you have selected. IF YOU SIGN IN An account is optional. Everything above works without one. Signing in with your email address connects the extension to your account on qrcodexpress.org. Codes you save are kept with your account, and the extension shows how often your trackable codes have been scanned, with a total and a per-code breakdown, so you can check the numbers without opening a browser tab. Scan counts apply only to codes you created on the website with Track scans enabled. Codes made in the extension are static: they hold their content directly, they work forever, and there is nothing to count. PERMISSIONS, AND WHY EACH ONE IS NEEDED activeTab reads the address of the tab you are looking at, and only at the moment you open the popup or choose a context menu item. contextMenus adds the right-click entries. storage remembers which style you last used. identity and access to Google's authentication and database endpoints are used only when you choose to sign in. If you never sign in, they are never used. The extension does not read page content, does not track your browsing, and contains no advertising or analytics of its own. THE FULL GENERATOR qrcodexpress.org handles the work that does not belong in a popup: twenty seven content types including vCard contacts, calendar events, app store links, payment details and location pins, a much larger set of module and eye shapes, gradients, a logo in the middle, error correction control, and export to PDF and EPS for print work. Codes made in the extension and codes made on the website come from the same renderer, so they look and behave identically. ON RELIABILITY A QR code that has been styled can stop scanning if the shapes interfere with the parts a reader depends on: the three finder squares, the alignment and timing patterns, and the quiet margin around the edge. Every style here is decoded by two independent readers before release, and any shape that failed was corrected or dropped rather than shipped.
