Overview

Exam papers into practice tests, flashcards, worksheets and Anki study decks. MCQ answer keys detected. Free, private, offline.

Turn an exam paper into a quiz, a worksheet, or a set of flashcards — in about a minute. Drop in a PDF, DOCX or TXT. QExtract finds the questions, the answer options and the answer key, shows you everything so you can correct anything before you use it, then exports a practice test, a printable worksheet, a Google Form, or an Anki or Quizlet deck. Everything runs inside your browser, on your own computer. Your papers are never uploaded, there is no account to create, and it keeps working with the internet disconnected. Built for teachers, tutors, students and parents who already have the material and just need it in a usable form. WHAT IT DOES - Extract questions from source material Detect item text, options, answer keys, common numbering styles, scanned labels, multi-column layouts, and mixed formats. Handles US-style answer choices (A B C D, and the F G H J K sets used by many state tests) as well as board-exam papers with sections and per-question marks. - Review before using Preview every extracted item, edit text, adjust options, set correct answers, remove low-quality results, and attach or remove question images. - Build a new practice paper Assemble a fresh paper from what you have extracted, following the structure of the original — sections, marks per question, and question counts. Choose full, half or quarter length, and create up to four versions of the same paper with the questions and answer choices shuffled and the answer key kept correct for each version. - Run practice sessions Launch an interactive player directly from the reviewed set. - Study over time Practise a set across days instead of once. Questions you find hard come back sooner, ones you know move further away, and your progress is remembered between sessions. It stays on your computer and can be cleared at any time. - Evaluate responses locally Upload an answer key and a student response file to score objective answers and review descriptive answers in the browser. - Create teaching material Generate printable worksheets, answer sheets, flashcards, and downloadable classroom packages from reviewed content. - Share with classroom workflows Prepare reviewed content for forms, learning platforms, study decks, offline worksheets, and archive bundles. - Keep files private Parsing and generation run locally in your browser. Your documents are never uploaded, and the extension requests no standing access to any website. WHAT IS NEW IN v1.9.0 - Practise the questions you get wrong. A new Study option shows one question at a time, hides the answer until you ask, and lets you say how well you knew it. Get it wrong and it comes back in the same sitting; get it right and it waits longer each time. Your progress is saved on your computer between sessions and can be reset in one click. - Answer choices no longer run together. Options that came through as "0.75(b) 0.12" — two or even three choices squashed into one — now separate properly. On a large maths bank this affected about one in five multiple-choice questions and is now about one in twenty. - Make a new paper, not just the same one again. Until now every export was the paper you started with. You can now build a fresh practice paper from your extracted questions, laid out like the original, in full, half or quarter length — with Version A, B, C and D for handing out to a class. - You see the paper before anything is saved. Build it, read exactly which questions were chosen section by section, change the length or the shuffle, and only then download. If your question bank did not have enough questions to fill a section, you are told so on screen — the paper is never quietly padded with something that does not fit. - Answer keys stay correct across versions. When the answer choices are shuffled for Version B, that version's answer key is rebuilt to match. Options like "All of the above" are left in place, because moving them makes them nonsense. - Built for screen readers and keyboard use. Every screen, including the standalone quiz player a student uses, now meets WCAG 2.2 AA, and this is checked automatically before each release. Two real problems on the student screen were found and fixed this way. - The extractor tells you what it could not read. A question it could not fully find in your document is flagged for review with the exact words it could not source, so you know where to look instead of re-reading everything. - Board-exam papers keep more of their shape. Assertion-and-reason questions are separated into their two statements, and a case study's shared passage is kept apart from the questions asked about it. - Fixed: a question kept being read aloud after it was deleted. Reported by a user. Narration now stops when the question goes away. GOOD FOR - Teachers creating practice tests from old papers - Schools and districts that cannot send assessment material to an outside service - Students turning study material into self-check practice - Tutors preparing worksheets and revision material - Parents generating school practice material - Anyone who wants a private, browser-based study workflow NOTES Extraction quality depends on the source document. Clean typed files usually work best. Scanned files can require extra review. Handwriting and papers whose text is stored incorrectly inside the PDF remain difficult. QExtract is designed to speed up preparation, not remove the final review step. Start with source material, review the extracted items, and build a usable practice set or worksheet in minutes.
