)Overview
The companion for the Pyre experience.
If you watch video across more than a couple of sites, you've probably lost track of where you left off more than once. Pyre is a Chrome extension that keeps a single watch history for everything you play in your browser, so you can always see what you watched, what you're partway through, and what's next, all in one place at pyre.tv. It also gives every video player the same set of controls, lets you use your phone as a remote, and makes watch parties work on sites that don't support them. ONE WATCH HISTORY, EVERY SITE Pyre automatically logs each video you play, including the title, episode, and the point where you stopped. It works on streaming services, live and creator video, online courses, and even local files. Because everything lands in one timeline, you can pick up where you left off on any device without remembering which site you were on. Over time you also get an honest picture of what you actually watch, which is more useful than any recommendations row. THE SAME CONTROLS ON EVERY PLAYER Every site builds its own player, and they all behave a little differently. Pyre adds a consistent set of controls on top: play, pause, seek, playback speed, volume, and fullscreen, plus keyboard shortcuts that work the same everywhere. There's a small floating bar with a scrubber for players that don't have a good one, and on supported shows it can skip intros and credits. USE YOUR PHONE AS A REMOTE Once you're signed in, your phone can control whatever is playing in your laptop or TV browser. It syncs in real time with no pairing codes, and you can hand playback from one device to another without losing your place. GAMEPAD SUPPORT If you have a controller plugged in, Pyre turns it into a media remote for any video on the web. Hold a trigger to fast-forward and let go to return to normal speed, use the d-pad to seek, press A to pause, and use the sticks for fine scrubbing. There's nothing to configure. WATCH PARTIES ON ANY SITE Pyre syncs playback between friends on any site that plays video in the browser, not just the one or two services most watch-party tools support. There's a chat panel next to the video, and a friends feed that shows what people are watching. PRIVACY Your watch history belongs to you, and Pyre doesn't sell it. You choose which sites are tracked, you can pause tracking from the popup at any time, and local files never leave your computer. GETTING STARTED Pyre is free and starts working as soon as it's installed. Sign in at pyre.tv when you want cross-device sync and watch parties. After that, just press play on something and Pyre will keep track of it.
