Overview

Audit any Google SERP for programmatic-SEO risk: templated & doorway pages, thin content, soft 404s, AI Overview gaps.

pseolint is a free, open-source Chrome extension that audits any Google search results page for programmatic-SEO (pSEO) risk. It works on the live SERP you are already viewing: it shows how templated the results are, which competitors are thin or low quality, the content bar you would need to clear to rank, and which pages are eligible for citation in AI Overviews. HOW IT WORKS The moment you land on a results page, pseolint reads the ranked results and shows the landscape: how many of them are templated, and across how many hosts. This runs automatically, with no permission prompt and nothing fetched. It reads only what is already on the page. For the full analysis, open the side panel and click Deep scan. pseolint fetches the ranked results, analyzes each one inside your browser, and turns the SERP into a competitive scorecard: - A one line strategic takeaway: is this SERP beatable, a fortress, or an AEO gap? - Saturation, plus the content bar you would need to clear to compete - The opening: the weakest page that still ranks, and why it is weak - Per result depth bars and fact tags (thin, soft 404, no meta description, no schema, templated, AEO ready) - AI Overview citation checks: who Google cites, and whether your site is among them - Set your own domain to see exactly where you stand on the page It is recon, not verdicts. The full teardown, and how to actually win the SERP, lives at pseolint.dev. WHAT PSEOLINT DETECTS - Programmatic and doorway pages: near-identical results templated across many URLs - Thin content: pages with too little substance to deserve their ranking - Soft 404s: error pages that return HTTP 200 and get indexed as junk - Missing on-page metadata: no meta description, no Open Graph tags, no structured data (schema) - Title and snippet mismatches: pages whose titles or descriptions Google rewrote - AI Overview and AEO gaps: results not structured for citation in Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, or Perplexity USE PSEOLINT WHEN YOU WANT TO - Check whether a search results page is dominated by programmatic or doorway pages - Find the weakest competitor you can realistically outrank on a keyword - See the content depth you need to compete for a query - Audit a competitor's on-page SEO directly from Google, without leaving the SERP - Check which results are eligible for AI Overview and answer-engine citations - See where your own site stands on a results page, and where the AEO gap is WHY IT IS DIFFERENT Most SEO tools grade a single page in isolation. pseolint reads the whole results page as a battlefield: how programmatic the field is, which competitors are thin or templated, the content bar you have to clear, and the single weakest page you can realistically outrank. It surfaces the same failure signals that get programmatic and doorway sites suppressed by search engines, on the live SERP, in one glance. BUILT PRIVACY FIRST The default landscape needs no permission and makes no network request. It reads the results page you are on and nothing else. Deep scan only runs when you ask for it. It fetches the ranked result pages, analyzes them inside your browser, and discards the page content immediately. It never attaches your cookies or session to a request. Nothing about your browsing is collected, transmitted, or sold. The only value it ever stores is a domain you optionally type to track your own position, kept locally and never sent anywhere. The rule logic is the same open-source engine (MIT) behind the pseolint command line tool and GitHub Action. The code is not minified to hide intent, and the extension ships with zero runtime dependencies, so nothing extra runs in your browser. WHAT IT IS NOT This is not a general SEO suite. There are no Core Web Vitals, no backlink graphs, and no keyword research. It does one thing well: catch the doorway, thin, and soft 404 patterns that get programmatic sites penalized, and show you where a results page is winnable. Free, and open source.
