Overview
A browser extension to help you trim your garden of tabs.
prune can help you manage your tab growth by: - Preventing you from opening duplicate tabs (focusing ones you already have open instead!) - Hiding or removing old tabs (you decide how old is too old!) - Setting a limit on the number of tabs you have open (pick what works best for you!) - ...and more! This project is free, open-source, and can be found at https://github.com/tbrockman/prune

This is awesome extension. It would be nice to have shortcut of turning on/off closing duplicated tab and to be able to make site excepions of closing duplicated tab.

Sure! Added these to the latest version (so it should be available after the Chrome store reviews it). The "site exceptions" feature will be available under a new "advanced settings" section, and the keyboard shortcut for toggling will be listed beside the option (suggested is command+control+w for mac, alt+shift+w for others, though you may have to configure it yourself manually). Hope it helps!

This doesn't seem to work well for me, I am using a workspace to sync my browser across multiple devices, I am guessing every time I close and re-open the workspace it resets the timer to prune old tabs? In any case, I've only ever had one tab automatically pruned despite using this for a couple of months. It's a nice idea though and I'd give it 5 stars if it worked flawlessly on workspaces.

Yeah I can imagine that there would be something there that wouldn't be handled appropriately by the extension. I haven't experimented with workspaces myself, but one immediate problem I could foresee would be that the timestamp of when a tab was last opened is stored in local browser storage (per device). Chrome has an API that would allow synchronizing that data across all devices, but because it has some limits/quotas, particularly how often it allows you to make updates (max 2 per second), it's not what the extension uses by default (in case a user opens/looks at a bunch of tabs in a short time period). I think it'd be a pretty reasonable feature to have though, so when I have time I'll try to create some sort of option that will hopefully allow this to work for you. If you're interested at all, feel free to either send an email to iam@theo.lol or (if you prefer/have a GitHub account) open an issue for this at https://github.com/tbrockman/prune/issues and I can keep you updated/get feedback on whether the change ends up fixing things for ya. Appreciate the positive review despite the extension not working entirely for you regardless, thanks!

It does what it claims! No more tab clutter -- no more duplicate tabs. Very happy.

Great to know it's working as intended 😬 Thanks for the review!
