ProxySquash is a purpose-built compliance tool designed to close the gaps in standard network filters (like Lightspeed, GoGuardian, or Securly). It proactively detects and "squashes" client-side evasion techniques that students use to bypass educational restrictions. Why ProxySquash? Modern web proxies and unblocked game sites often load content directly into browser memory or mask their activity behind generic system pages, making them invisible to traditional network firewalls. ProxySquash sits locally on the Chromebook to detect these behaviors the moment they happen. Core Capabilities: Signature Squashing: Scans the browser's "Main World" for specific variable signatures (__uv, __rammerhead, etc.) used by web-based proxies and neutralizes the session immediately. "About:Blank" Prevention: Aggressively closes about:blank tabs, preventing students from using them to hide browsing history or evade classroom monitoring screens. Anti-Cloaking Defense: Identifies tabs masquerading as school tools (e.g., a tab named "Google Drive" that isn't actually on a Google domain) and forces them closed. Blob & Data URI Blocking: Stops the use of blob: and data: schemes, which are frequently used to load game assets undetected by the network filter.
