Provenance Diligence — listing reader

On any business-for-sale listing, in any country: what the page says, and what it leaves out.

Open a business-for-sale listing — on any site, in any country — and press the extension icon. The panel opens beside the listing and does one job: it puts that listing into the same twelve lines every time, so you can compare Lisbon with Istanbul and Manila without re-reading each page from scratch. WHAT A CHECK NEEDS — TWELVE LINES Legal name and tax number · address of the premises · owner or intermediary · price · rent · lease term and the right to transfer it · revenue and its period · profit and its period · documents behind those figures · staff · licences and permits · what is actually being sold. Each line is either filled from the page, word for word, or it says plainly "not stated". Most listings answer two to six of the twelve. That is the point: the empty lines are the questions you would otherwise discover after paying a deposit. A REQUEST TO THE SELLER, IN THEIR LANGUAGE Press one button and the panel writes out the missing lines as a short, polite request — in your language, and again in the language of the page. You read it, you copy it, you send it yourself from your own account. We never write to sellers and never contact anyone on your behalf. IN YOUR LANGUAGE, NOT THE PAGE'S The panel speaks the language of your browser — 46 languages, from Spanish, German and Russian to Thai, Georgian, Persian and Chinese. It reads listings written in 45 languages. Where your browser can translate on the device, the words of the page are translated too, with the original kept in a tooltip; where it cannot, the panel says so rather than pretending. WHAT THE PAGE ITSELF SAYS Below the twelve lines the panel quotes the marketplace: a struck-through previous price, the discount figure the site prints beside it, the date line — and it separates the day a listing was posted from the day it was pushed back to the top. Quotations, not our arithmetic. You can open "show everything the page says" to see every field the listing carries, exactly as written. WHERE WE HAVE COUNTED On Spanish marketplaces the panel also shows where the price sits among comparable listings, and how long the listing has really stood, against a market we counted ourselves. Everywhere else it says plainly: "we have not counted this marketplace yet". We never print a number we did not measure, and we never move a number from one country to another. WHAT YOU KEEP Save the listings you care about. Saving needs your Provenance Diligence account linked once: before offering to save, the extension checks the list kept there, so a listing you already saved on another device is never offered twice. Each saved listing keeps a dated snapshot of what the page said that day, marked "not checked against documents". When you have sent your request, the saved card says so — and tells you when something new appears on that page afterwards. If the listing is taken down, the panel says that too, and your snapshot keeps what it said. Until you link an account, the extension makes no request to our server at all. The panel belongs to the tab where you opened a listing. Leave that page and it switches off. It asks the seller nothing, gives no score and no traffic light, and never reads a page you did not open yourself.
