ProteoCast for FlyBase

Overlays ProteoCast missense-variant predictions on FlyBase protein, gene and allele pages.

ProteoCast for FlyBase brings the ProteoCast predictions of missense-variant effects (Abakarova et al., Nature Communications, 2026) directly into FlyBase report pages, so you can judge a Drosophila melanogaster mutation without leaving the page you are reading. On protein (FBpp), gene (FBgn) and allele (FBal) pages, a panel at the top of the report shows: • a per-residue mutational-sensitivity track in blue, as in the ProteoCast paper, with the protein's domains and the positions where the alignment is low-confidence; • a variant box: type R123G or Arg123Gly to get impactful / mild / neutral, with a check that the reference residue matches the isoform; • a colour-coded sequence view, for the whole protein or a stretch selected with the mouse on the track; hovering a residue shows all 19 substitutions coloured by class; • on gene pages, a menu to switch between isoforms; • on allele pages, the allele's amino-acid replacement classified and marked on the track (alleles that are not missense changes get a short note). Predictions cover about 99% of D. melanogaster proteins (FlyBase release 6.44 proteome) and are served from the ProteoCast server at proteocast.ijm.fr; sequences and domains come from FlyBase's public API.
