Overview
Capture web pages as court-ready forensic evidence. SHA-256 hashes, blockchain timestamps, eIDAS qualified timestamps.
ProofSnap turns any webpage into evidence you can defend. A screenshot can be edited in seconds with browser developer tools, and courts know it. In United States v. Vayner a federal court refused a Facebook screenshot because nobody could authenticate it. ProofSnap captures the same page and wraps it in cryptographic proof: hashes, a digital signature, verified time and a complete chain of custody. How it works Open the side panel and click capture. ProofSnap reloads the page, records a full-page screenshot, the HTML, the readable page text and the technical metadata, hashes every file with SHA-256, signs the manifest with an RSA-4096 key and anchors the result in time. You receive one ZIP file that anyone can check, with or without ProofSnap installed. Pages that load content while you scroll, such as chat and feed style web apps, are captured section by section so the whole conversation or timeline ends up in the file. What is inside the evidence package Full-page or visible-area screenshot, complete HTML, extracted page text, forensic metadata (URL, timestamps, TLS certificate, DNS records, HTTP response headers), a signed SHA-256 manifest, a tamper-evident forensic log, an ISO/IEC 27037 chain of custody record and a readable evidence report in PDF. Trusted time Every capture is time-anchored. NTP-verified capture time on all plans, a Bitcoin blockchain timestamp on Professional and above, and an EU qualified electronic timestamp on Enterprise and Company plans, issued by Disig a.s., a Qualified Trust Service Provider on the EU Trusted List. Provenance certificate Each package contains a certificate showing the capture came from a live browser session on a real device rather than from a generated image. Eight independent checks cover device, time, network and certificate data. AI image analysis Images on the captured page are checked for signs of AI generation. ProofSnap reads C2PA Content Credentials, IPTC and XMP provenance fields and generator metadata embedded in the image file, then records what it found in the evidence report. The analysis runs on your device, no image is uploaded. Video recording Record the capture automatically, record manually while you browse or play back media, or record a whole multi-tab session. Recordings are hashed, signed and timestamped like every other file in the package. Session capture Document an entire browsing session in one package. Every tab you visit gets its own screenshot, HTML, text, metadata and chain of custody, with a single screen recording covering the session. Useful for compliance audits, fraud investigation, research and IP enforcement. File certification Drag and drop files to hash, sign and timestamp them. Files stay on your device, only hashes are transmitted. Custom branding Enterprise and Company plans can replace ProofSnap branding on the evidence report with their own logo, organization name and brand color, which suits law firms and agencies delivering evidence to clients. Verification Anyone can check a ProofSnap package in the free web verifier at getproofsnap.com/verify/index.html, inside the extension, or with the open-source command line tool at github.com/proofsnap/proofsnap-verify (MIT license). Every package also ships with verification scripts for Windows and for macOS and Linux. Plans Essential: full evidence package and forensic documentation. Professional: adds blockchain timestamps. Enterprise: adds EU qualified timestamps, file certification and custom branding. Company: team accounts with central management. All subscription plans start with a 7-day trial and require a credit card. If you prefer to pay per use, SnapPack gives you 10 captures for $4.99 with no subscription. eIDAS SnapPack adds EU qualified timestamps from $6.99, and Video SnapPack adds long-form video evidence with audio from $24.99. Legal background ProofSnap is built around US Federal Rules of Evidence 901 and 902(14), EU Regulation 910/2014 (eIDAS) and ISO/IEC 27037:2012 on the handling of digital evidence. Admissibility is always decided by the court, ProofSnap gives you the documentation to support it. Who it is for Lawyers and in-house legal teams, investigators, journalists, compliance and HR staff, short-term rental hosts, and anyone who needs to prove what a website said at a given moment. Available in 28 languages. ProofSnap. Capture, timestamp and preserve what you see online.
