Proofread DE/EN checks your spelling, grammar and punctuation in German and English while you type – in text fields, comment boxes, chat windows and rich-text editors on any website. HOW IT WORKS • Just type. About two seconds after you pause, mistakes are underlined: red for spelling, blue for grammar, amber for punctuation. • Click an underlined word to apply the correction or ignore it. • The small badge in the corner of the field shows how many issues were found. Click it to see them all and fix everything at once. • Corrections can be undone with Ctrl+Z. • Alt+Shift+P checks the current field immediately. • Mixed German and English text is handled automatically – no need to switch languages. BRING YOUR OWN AI MODEL Proofread DE/EN uses OpenRouter to run the check with a language model of your choice. You need your own OpenRouter API key (openrouter.ai/keys). Costs are billed by OpenRouter directly and are typically fractions of a cent per check. Only lines that changed since the last check are sent, so editing long texts stays cheap. PRIVACY • No account, no tracking, no analytics, no server of our own. • Text from the field you are typing in is sent to OpenRouter and the model provider you selected – only to check it. • Your API key is stored locally in your browser and never synced. • Turn the extension off for any website with one click in the toolbar popup. • Password, e-mail and URL fields as well as code editors are never checked.
