It shows you a word-level redline of exactly what changed. Press Replace and the fixed text lands in the field you were already typing in. There is no subscription and no sign-up, because there is no server on our side to sign up to: your text goes from your browser straight to the provider you chose and back. Nothing reaches the developer — not your text, not your key, not the fact that you ran it. A typical passage costs a fraction of a cent, and you can cap the spend at the provider. ——————— NOTHING ON THE PAGE UNTIL YOU ASK ——————— No floating button, no underlines while you type, and no site access requested at install. Proofline asks for permission to a site the first time you actually use it there, and you can grant a single domain instead of all of them. ——————— WHAT IT CANNOT DO ——————— Google Docs is not supported. Docs draws text on a canvas rather than in a text field, so there is nothing for an extension to read or replace. Everywhere else — webmail, chat and comment boxes, CMS fields, editors inside embedded frames, plain textareas — works.
