Drop in a picture and you get a list of every common print size, from a 21 x 30 cm print up to a 70 x 100 cm poster, with a plain verdict for each one: Excellent, Good, Acceptable, Low, or Not recommended. Now you know which sizes are safe before you pay for one. WHY A PHOTO CAN LOOK BLURRY ON PAPER A screen is forgiving. Paper is not. The same photo that looks perfect on your phone can come out soft as a poster, because printing spreads the detail it has over a much larger area. Print shops generally want around 300 dots of detail per inch of paper. PrintReady works out how many your photo would actually have at each size, and says so when it falls short. This is also why the "DPI" number saved inside a file does not mean much on its own. A small photo labelled 300 DPI is still a small photo. What matters is how many pixels it has, and that is what PrintReady measures. WHAT ELSE IT TELLS YOU - What gets cut off. A photo and a sheet of paper are rarely the same shape, so something has to go. You see how much, from which edges, and what is left. - The largest size you can print well. - How many pixels you would need for a size you have in mind. - Whether your photo is portrait, landscape or square. Sizes are matched to it automatically, so you never have to flip anything yourself. - Its dimensions, megapixels, proportions and file size. YOUR PHOTOS NEVER LEAVE YOUR COMPUTER Everything is worked out on your own machine. There is no upload, no server, no account and no tracking. The extension makes no internet connections at all, which you can check for yourself: it works exactly the same with your wi-fi switched off. It asks for one permission, "storage", and uses it only to remember whether you prefer centimetres or inches. It cannot see the pages you visit.
