Check a thesis, journal or book PDF before printing: page size, binding margins, image resolution, fonts and colour pages.

Check your PDF before it goes to print. Print-Ready PDF Check reads a thesis, journal, book or report PDF and lists the problems that commonly spoil a printed and bound copy, so you can fix them before paying for printing. What it checks: Binding margin: measures the space between your text and the binding edge on every page, for one-sided or two-sided printing, against the minimum you choose (20 mm, 25 mm, or 38 mm / 1.5 inch, the left margin many university thesis guidelines ask for). Trim safety: flags text placed so close to the top, bottom or outer edge that it could be cut off when the bound copy is trimmed. Image resolution: works out the real resolution of every photo and figure at the size it is placed, and flags images likely to print blurry (below 150 pixels per inch) or soft (below 220). Fonts: lists any fonts that are not embedded in the PDF and may print in a different typeface. Page sizes: names the paper size (A4, A5, B5, Letter and others) and flags mixed sizes and landscape pages. Colour and blank pages: counts the colour pages and the black-and-white pages, and lists blank pages, which helps when asking for a printing quotation. See every page: a thumbnail of each page shows where your text sits and the binding zone you need, with problem pages outlined. Click any page to open it large with its four margins measured in millimetres. A clear verdict: a score, a ready / check / fix summary, and the most important problems listed first. How to use it: 1. Click the extension icon to open the checker. 2. Choose how the document will be printed (one-sided or two-sided) and the binding margin you need. 3. Drop your PDF onto the page, or choose the file. 4. Read the report: each point is marked Fix, Check, Info or OK, with the page numbers involved. Select "Show pages" to see those pages, or open any page to see its measured margins. Privacy: your PDF never leaves your computer. It is read inside your browser, nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and the extension asks for no permissions. It does not read the websites you visit. The check is automatic and measures the text and images found in the PDF. Always follow your own university's or publisher's formatting guidelines. Scanned PDFs without selectable text can be checked for images, colour and page size, but not for margins.
