PRIME: Page Region & Item Mapping Engine. PRIME brings screen reader-style "browse mode" navigation to sighted keyboard users. If you've ever used NVDA or JAWS, you know the trick: press H to jump between headings, R to jump between landmarks, and so on with no mouse, no hunting, no tabbing through fifty links to find the one you want. PRIMEgives you the same shortcuts, plus a visible highlight box so you can see exactly where you landed. Why this exists Keyboard-only users who aren't using a screen reader — people with motor impairments, RSI, tremor, or anyone who just prefers the keyboard — have never had access to this. Tab and Shift+Tab work, but they crawl through every focusable element on the page one at a time. PRIME skips straight to the type of thing you're looking for. How it works Turn on browse mode from the toolbar icon or Alt+Shift+Q, then use: H — headings R — regions (landmarks: nav, main, header, footer, search, and named sections) L — lists K — links B — buttons T — tables 1–9 — jump straight to region 1 through 9 Shift+any key — go backward instead of forward E — open the Elements List, a filterable, numbered list of everything on the page by type, so you can jump straight to a specific one ? — see the full shortcut list at any time Every jump scrolls the element into view, focuses it, and draws a highlight box with a label telling you what it is ("Region 3 of 7 — Navigation — Main menu"). Screen reader users get the same information for free, through a live region announcement. Built to stay out of your way Off by default. Turn it on per site, and it remembers your choice for that site — it never turns itself on somewhere you didn't ask for it. Shortcuts automatically stand down the moment you're typing in a text field, search box, or rich text editor, so there's no risk of interference while you write. Customize the highlight's color and thickness from the settings page to match your contrast needs or personal preference. Built on real accessibility standards Regions are detected using the same rules assistive technology uses — semantic elements (<nav>, <main>, <header>, etc.), ARIA landmark roles, and named sections only (an unlabeled <div> or <section> isn't a landmark, and PRIME won't treat it like one). Headings, lists, links, buttons, and tables follow the same logic. This extension doesn't collect, transmit, or store any of your browsing data. Every setting lives in your browser's local storage.
