Render Selected Text makes raw data on web pages readable. Select some text, right-click and choose "Render selected text": it opens in a clean overlay on the same page. WHAT IT DOES • JSON data, along with Ruby hashes and PHP arrays from debug output, becomes a collapsible tree with colour-coded values. • Markdown is shown as a formatted document with headings, lists, tables and code blocks. • TOON, the compact notation used in LLM prompts, is decoded into the same tree view. • Anything else is rendered as HTML. The format is detected automatically, so there is nothing to configure. 🆕 NEW IN 2.0 • Markdown and TOON rendering • A terminal-style popup: monospace and high contrast • Themes in Options: Dark, Light, Match system and Unicorn (the original purple look) • The first two levels of a tree open automatically 💡HOW TO USE 1. Select text on a page or inside a text area. 2. Right-click and choose "Render selected text". 3. Click ▶/▼ to expand or collapse nodes. 4. Press Esc or the close button to dismiss it. 🔒 PRIVACY Everything runs locally: the text you select never leaves your browser. The extension has no host permissions and only acts on the tab where you use the menu. It stores one setting, your theme, synced through your Chrome profile. HTML inside Markdown is shown as text and never executed. Free and open source.
