Pretty Hacker News restyles news.ycombinator.com in place — same page, same links, your existing login — into a calm, modern reader. It renders its own clean UI over HN's data, so you get a real design instead of a recolor. Features • Named themes including a faithful, dense "Classic" look as the default — switchable from the in-page settings. • Instant, no-reload navigation between feeds and stories; back/forward work. • Keyboard navigation — j/k to move, o/Enter to open, u to upvote. • Upvote, comment, and reply on your real HN account (no passwords stored). • Read/seen dimming so you don't re-read the same stories. • Velocity badges on fast-rising stories and an "OP" badge on submitter comments. • Save stories, mute domains, collapse comment threads, set a default feed. • Optional inline article previews — read the linked page (clean text + image) without leaving HN. • Optional AI brief (off by default, bring your own key) — summarizes the linked article and the comment thread, and points you to comments worth reading. It only helps you read; it never writes comments or votes for you. Local-first: no accounts, no servers of our own, no tracking. Your settings, bookmarks, history — and, if you use AI, your key — live only in your browser. The full source is open and the network calls are listed in the privacy policy.
