PrankSync – Prank Your Friends in Real Time

It takes two. Pair with a friend using a single-use code, fire effects into their browser live, or set traps for sites they open.

Prank extensions have always been single player. You install something, it makes your own browser silly, and that is the whole joke. PrankSync needs two people, and that changes everything. One of you is the Victim, the other is the Prankster. You pair with a single-use code, and from that moment the Prankster can see what the Victim is up to in real time — which site they are on and how many tabs they have open, and nothing else. It is just enough to pick your moment. Because the timing is the joke. The page starts shaking the second they open the shared doc. A cat meows halfway through a video. The cursor wanders off on its own while they are trying to read something. Ten seconds later it has all stopped, and they are staring at a perfectly ordinary browser wondering what just happened. Or do not watch at all. Arm a trap and forget about it: scramble every word on the page the next time they open Wikipedia. It springs hours later, without you, and tells you it went off. WHAT'S IN IT • 18 effects — a ghost cursor, reversed scrolling, a flipped or blurred or shaking page, a cartoon face drawn over every picture, scrambled text, a hair on the screen they will keep trying to brush off, convincing system dialogs, and 13 synthesised sounds from a cat meow to a car alarm. • Live timing — the Victim's current site and tab count, so a joke lands at the perfect second. • Traps — fire once when they next open a chosen site, or again and again at unpredictable intervals while they stay on it. • Chaos mode — something random, somewhere, every so often. • Nothing permanent — every effect is a cosmetic overlay that leaves no trace. The page is never permanently changed, and everything clears when the Prankster stops it, when the page navigates, or when the tab closes. Almost all of them also run out on their own after a few seconds; the hair is the one that waits to be stopped instead of counting down. EVERYONE IS IN ON IT • Both people install PrankSync themselves. There is no way to prank someone who has not. • Chrome asks for site access once, at install. The extension only reaches a page after someone chooses to be the Victim, and it stops reaching pages the moment that session ends. Play Prankster and it never touches a website at all. • The Victim creates the session and shares the code. It works exactly once: whoever uses it first is paired, and the code is spent. • The Victim can drop the Prankster or end the session at any moment from their own popup, and dropping revokes access immediately. • Please do not use this to control someone's browser without them knowing. That is not a prank, and it is against Chrome Web Store policy. WHAT THE PRANKSTER CAN SEE The hostname of the Victim's active tab (for example "youtube.com") and how many tabs are open. That is all. Full URLs, page content, page titles, form data and browsing history are never read and never leave the Victim's machine. Nothing is shared at all when no Prankster is connected. HOW TO USE IT 1. Friend A opens the popup, picks "Prank me — I'm the Victim", and shares the code or join link. 2. Friend B opens the popup, picks "I'm the Prankster", and enters the code. 3. Friend B waits for the right moment and fires, or arms a trap for later. 4. Either of them can end the session whenever they like. The Victim can also drop the Prankster. No accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no tracking.
