Overview

A clean reader and editor for markdown files on your computer.

MDR turns any markdown file on your computer into a clean, readable page, and lets you edit it in place. Open a .md file in Chrome and MDR shows it as a formatted document instead of raw text. Click into the page to edit. Changes save straight back to the file, and only the parts you changed are rewritten, so the rest of your markdown stays exactly as you wrote it. Reading - Headings, tables, task lists, callouts, footnotes, math and code with syntax colors - Mermaid diagrams, with a zoomable full-screen viewer - An outline of the page's sections along the right edge - Fold any section under its heading - Light and dark themes, with a choice of fonts Editing - Type / to insert headings, lists, tables, code blocks and more - Drag blocks and table rows to reorder them - Paste or drop images; MDR saves them next to the file - Switch to the markdown source at any time with ⌘/ - Earlier versions of each file are kept, so you can restore one Moving around - ⌘K searches the markdown files in the same folder - Links between your files open in MDR Sharing - Copy for Google Docs (⌘⇧C) copies the page with its formatting and images, ready to paste into a Google Doc Private by design MDR runs entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your computer, and MDR has no account, no tracking and no servers. Getting started After installing, turn on "Allow access to file URLs" for MDR. The welcome page walks you through it.
