Overview

Competitor app research on Google Play & App Store pages: Play installs, ratings, ad networks. Export reviews & screenshots.

Open a competitor's listing on Google Play or the App Store, and the facts you would otherwise copy by hand are already on the page, ready to export for your competitor analysis. Free, no account needed. WHAT YOU SEE ON AN APP PAGE • Category and chart position in the current storefront, how long it has been on the store, last update and version • Installs on Play: the exact count from the store's own data, in full and rounded (such as 820M), not an estimate • Ratings: star distribution; on Play, the global total shown separately from the local review count, and ratings by device where listed (phone, tablet, Chromebook, watch, TV, PC) • Release history for iOS apps: up to the last 25 versions on a timeline up to today, each with its What's New notes, plus the median time between updates and the longest gap • Monetization: ads, in-app purchases and price • Store assets and tech details: screenshot count, feature graphic and video links, minimum OS, target API level, bundle ID, size and supported languages • Privacy: data safety details and all permissions, grouped, or Apple's privacy labels • Developer: website, contact details and IDs; where a country is shown, it is inferred from the published address and labeled as inferred ASO: INDEXED TEXT FIELDS AND AVAILABILITY • How much of each indexed text field is used (title, short description, subtitle, description), with the top terms and phrases counted per language, so you can see which keywords the listing leans on • Where the app is listed: Play's full country list in one go (the same 178 countries and regions as in Play Console), with a page-language switcher that keeps the country; the 175 iOS storefronts are checked one continent at a time, and you can switch between the current storefront's own languages. Click a flag to switch countries AD NETWORKS FROM APP-ADS.TXT • Reads the public app-ads.txt on the developer's website, following the IAB spec, and lists the ad networks and mediation platforms the app has a DIRECT account with • AdMob publisher IDs in one click; lines that ad platforms would ignore are counted, and you can open them to see the line number, the text and why each line is invalid • It shows what the publisher declares publicly for all apps on that website; it is not an SDK scan APP CARDS ON LIST PAGES • Play home pages and top charts, categories, search results, "see more" and developer pages: a small card under each app with installs, release year and last update, plus tags for new releases and apps not updated in a year • The Similar apps and More by lists beside an app page get the same card, with ads, in-app purchases and developer country • On iOS app pages, the "You Might Also Like" and "More by" shelves get cards with each app's local rating count EXPORTS • Export reviews to Excel (.xlsx): up to 10,000 at a time from Play (in a review language you pick) and 2,000 from Apple (from a storefront you pick), filterable by stars and date range (last 7–365 days) • Export metadata to Excel: one row and 65+ columns per app, ad networks included; stack several apps in one sheet to compare them side by side • Download all images as a ZIP: every screenshot at full resolution plus the icon; for Play apps also the 1024×500 feature graphic, for iOS apps screenshots grouped by device LINKS FOR DEEPER RESEARCH • Ready-made links that open this app, or a search for it, on third-party market-data sites and ad libraries, such as Sensor Tower or the Meta Ad Library; some require you to sign in with your own account. The extension sends these research sites nothing. • Cross-store search, and for Android apps an APK from a third-party mirror you pick (APKCombo or APKPure), when the mirror has one WHO IT'S FOR • ASO (app store optimization) specialists comparing listing text, ratings and update cadence • UA (user acquisition) and growth marketers sizing up a competitor's markets and ad stack • Monetization and ad ops teams checking app-ads.txt and AdMob publisher IDs • Indie developers going global, and product teams running competitor teardowns PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS Spyglass collects nothing: no analytics, no telemetry, no account. It has no server of its own and needs no API key. Everything it reads from a store page is processed on your own device and written to your own downloads folder. That store page content is what the Privacy section on this page lists as "Website content". Its requests go to the store you are browsing, with four exceptions: when you click Download APK, the app's package name goes to the mirror you picked; app cards are filled from the stores' public endpoints, and those requests carry nothing about you; when you click Check top 200, the public charts of the app's category are fetched from Google Play, and those requests name only the category, the chart and the storefront, not the app; and while an app's details are expanded (the default) or when you export its metadata, your browser reads a single file, /app-ads.txt, on the developer's website, with no cookies and through no other server. Collapse the details and those lookups stop. Because a developer's website can be on any domain, Chrome asks for access to all websites ("Read and change all your data on all websites"). Spyglass uses that access only for the stores, the APK mirrors and this one file, and its panel appears only on the two stores' pages. Chrome also lists "Manage your downloads": Spyglass uses it only to save the files you ask for. Privacy policy: https://spyglass.navigatorstrategy.io/privacy.html WHERE IT WORKS • Google Play Store: app pages, including Google Play Games on PC, get the full panel; home, charts, category, search, "see more" and developer pages get app cards • App Store on the web (apps.apple.com): app pages get the full panel, and the shelves at the bottom get app cards • Interface in 13 languages; requires Chrome 151 or later NEW IN 3.0 Search-result ranks on Google Play and the App Store, local languages for each storefront, a phone preview of the store page, a category top-200 lookup, review language and storefront pickers, plus the redesigned panel, app cards on list pages, ad network lookup, ratings by device, Excel (.xlsx) exports and a German interface.
