Powermeter is designed exclusively for research purposes. While activated, Powermeter performs small random modifications to the display and arrangement of search results on popular search engines, and it records the number of clicks associated with different configurations. The extension does not store search queries or any information about websites visited. It is designed to respect user privacy and minimally interfer with user experience. The collected data will serve to assess the effect of display decisions on user clicks. By installing the extension you are contributing to advance the scientific understanding related to the performativity of search engines.
