Overview

Save posts from Instagram to a local library: every image, the caption and details. Browse in a side panel, export to Markdown.

PostSnap keeps your own copy of the Instagram posts you want to hang on to. Every carousel image, the caption and the details, saved in your browser. PostSnap is an independent tool for Instagram. It is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta. Save a post: • Open a post and click the PostSnap toolbar button. That's it. • On your feed, a profile or Explore, click the button, then click any post. It's saved without leaving the page. • Carousels keep every slide (video slides keep their cover image for now). Reels keep their video. What gets saved: • Every image, at the largest size Instagram offers. • The caption, the author, and when it was posted. • Details as of the moment you saved it: likes, comment count, views, location, tagged accounts, co-authors, audio, and whether it's a paid partnership. • The alt text Instagram has for each image, when there is one. Your library: • Opens in a tab or in the browser's side panel, right next to the feed. • Posts are grouped by the day you saved them. Search by author or caption. • Open one to step through its slides and read its details. Delete one or many, with Undo. Export to Markdown: • Pick a folder once in Settings. Your Obsidian vault works, or any other folder. • Export one post, a selection, or everything. Each post becomes a note with frontmatter, images beside it. • Obsidian embeds, or standard Markdown links for apps like Typora, VS Code or Bear. • Notes already in the folder are skipped unless you choose to overwrite them, so your edits are safe. Settings: highlight color, open the side panel while you pick, keyboard shortcuts, note and image folders, tags, and a file name prefix. Storage shows how much space your archive takes, and can ask the browser not to clear it when disk space runs low. Privacy: no account, no analytics, and no server of ours. Saved posts stay in your browser on this device. PostSnap only talks to Instagram: it reads the post you pick the same way instagram.com does, signed in as you, and downloads that post's images from Instagram's servers. Settings sync with your browser if sync is on. Exports go only to the folder you choose. Full policy: https://www.appsnitato.com/postsnap/privacy.html
