Portlight

Overview
See which localhost ports are in use, by what, and which are free.
Portlight shows every port your computer is listening on, which project and process owns it, and which ports are free. It lives in the toolbar, so you can check before starting another dev server instead of finding out from an "address already in use" error. What you see for each port: • the project folder and the tool behind it, such as a web framework, a database or a Docker container • the process, how long it has been running, and whether other devices on your network can reach it • the browser tab already open on it, if there is one What you can do: • Type a port number to see if it is free. The footer always suggests the nearest free port. • Quit a stray dev server. Portlight asks first, and it only quits processes that belong to you. • Quit every dev server that has sat idle for hours, in one step. • Open a local server on your phone with a QR code for your network address. • Share a public link through cloudflared or ngrok, if you have one installed. The link stops when you stop it. Portlight needs a small helper program to see which process owns a port, because Chrome extensions can't read that on their own. Install it once with: npx portlight-host install or with Homebrew on macOS and Linux: brew install maero47/tap/portlight-host portlight-host install The popup shows the right command for your system and remembers if you'd rather not install it yet. Without the helper, Portlight still finds web servers on common dev ports over HTTP. Nothing leaves your computer. There is no account, no analytics and no remote server. The source code is on GitHub: https://github.com/Maero47/portlight Works on macOS, Linux and Windows.
