Overview
Fact-check what you read and spot the signs of misinformation: every claim gets a verdict and sources, right beside the post.
Spot misinformation as you scroll, and fact-check anything you read online. Polygraph does two things for what you read. It looks for the signals misinformation tends to carry — the persuasion techniques a post leans on, who it blames, sources with a poor record — and it fact-checks the claims themselves, giving each one a verdict and the evidence behind it. The signals tell you what deserves a closer look. The fact check tells you what the evidence says. Polygraph for Chrome puts both right beside what you are reading. ━━ IN YOUR FEED ━━ Works in the feeds of the major social networks, as you scroll. • Posts already fact-checked are marked. A small mark beside the post shows its Polygraph score; click it to open the full fact check in the side panel. On X, the claims it fact-checked are underlined in the post itself. Free, and no account needed. • Everything else is scanned for warning signs. Once you sign in, Polygraph reads the posts nobody has fact-checked yet and marks the persuasion techniques they use — loaded language, name-calling, slogans in place of an argument, appeals to what "everyone" thinks, whataboutism, scapegoating, and more — and notes who a post blames or credits for an outcome. A quote tweet is read together with the post it quotes, and a reply with the post it answers, so a comment is judged in context. A signal is not a verdict. A post can use a technique and still be true. Signals point you to the posts worth a second look; the fact check is how you find out. The scan costs 1 credit per 25 posts, and a post someone else already had scanned is free. Switch it off, or have it scan only while the side panel is open, in settings. ━━ ON ANY POST, PAGE OR TEXT ━━ • Fact-check it. Open the side panel and press "Fact-check this post" (or "Fact-check this page" on an article). You see the price in credits and your balance first, and nothing is spent until you confirm. The fact check fills in live as Polygraph works: the claims it finds, the searches it runs, each verdict as it lands. • Fact-check just part of it. Select text on any page and choose "Fact-check with Polygraph" from the right-click menu, or paste text or a link into the panel. • Already fact-checked? It opens straight away. Reading a fact check is always free. • Every account gets free credits each month; top up any time. ━━ WHAT A FACT CHECK SHOWS ━━ • Every factual claim in the post, each with a verdict: true, false, mixed or unverifiable. • The sources behind each verdict, so you can read them yourself. • Sources with a poor record, flagged and named by who rated them. • The persuasion techniques the post uses, with the exact words. • A Polygraph score that sums it up, and a page you can share. Polygraph checks claims against the evidence. It never rates a person or an opinion, and a post that only states an opinion is not charged. ━━ FIGHT BACK ━━ Found something false? Polygraph helps you answer it. • A reply, drafted for you. The Respond tab writes a reply from the fact check: stick to the facts, call out the framing, or both. Edit it in place, then reply on the post's own platform, quote it, share it to a post of your own, or copy it. • The evidence comes with it. The reply links to the fact check, which shows up as a picture of the verdict, so anyone who sees your answer can open the sources too. ━━ YOUR PRIVACY ━━ • Polygraph never reads your account, your messages or who you follow. • In your feed it sends only post addresses, plus the words of posts with no fact check if you turn on the scan. • Nothing is fact-checked, and no credits are spent, without your click.
