Overview

Fix your spelling and grammar right where you typed it, before you hit send. Runs on your own computer.

Make sure you don't sound like an idiot before you hit send. You type fast. Faster than your fingers can spell. And right before you post that comment, that reply, that email, there's the little voice: did I just write "there" instead of "their" again? So you copy the whole thing, open a chatbot in another tab, paste it in, type "fix the spelling", wait, copy the answer, come back, paste it over the original. Every single time. For one comment. Polish in Place ends that. Select what you wrote, right click, Polish in Place. It's fixed, right where it was, in a second or two. You never leave the box. WHAT IT FIXES • Spelling, typos, missing capitals • Grammar and punctuation • Sentences that came out sideways, untangled so they read the way you meant them WHAT IT DOESN'T DO It does not rewrite you. Your words, your tone, your point, your swearing if you swore. It adds nothing you didn't say. You still sound like you, just like you on a day you weren't typing with your elbows. HOW TO USE IT 1. Select the sentence or paragraph you just wrote 2. Right click, Polish in Place 3. Hit send That's the whole thing. There's also Alt+Shift+P to fix an entire text box without selecting anything, and a toolbar button with a paste box for text from somewhere else. NO ACCOUNT. NO KEY. NOTHING TO PAY. It runs on the language model built into Chrome itself, on your own computer. Your text never leaves your machine, nothing is logged anywhere, and there is no server that can go down or start charging you. The first polish after a while takes about ten seconds while Chrome loads the model. After that it answers in a second or two, and in plain text boxes you watch the words land as it goes. WHY IT EXISTS It was built by a keyboard smasher who got tired of fixing the same five mistakes in every comment and finally decided the computer should do it. If that's you too, you're exactly who it was made for. WHERE IT WORKS Any normal text box in Chrome, on any website. Chrome extensions stop at the edge of the browser, so it can't reach desktop apps. Editors that draw their text on a canvas instead of a real text box may not work either. WHAT IT NEEDS Chrome 138 or newer on a desktop computer. About 22 GB free on the drive holding your Chrome profile, and either a graphics card with more than 4 GB of memory or 16 GB of RAM. Chrome downloads the model once, the first time. If your machine can't run it, you can add your own API key in the options instead. PRIVACY No server, no analytics, no account. Your text is processed on your own computer and is never transmitted. The one exception is if you choose to add your own API key, in which case it goes straight from your browser to that one service and nowhere else.
